Bumping up SP for a little does not hurt but it won't make you lose or win unless playing against Aristocats. Defensive CA teams are very few in the USA for some reason. IMO, more value is added by passing and bumping winger in midfielders up to at least formidable level or higher so that they can be fielded as WTM. Passing is actually quite fast training because it goes up from a usually low level to some reasonable solid or excellent level and works even in older players age over 25.
