Cheap MMORPG
 

World of Warcraft seems like a great game, but I don't like paying for it on a monthly basis, especially since I normally play game for a certain amount of time, then leave it, then pick it up again, etc...

Looks of the game are also not really that important to me, nor is the genre. Does anyone have a recommendation for me?

(Ideally I'd like to see a MMO-version of Wizardry VII/VIII...)

I'm definately a WoW player however i think that Guild Wars is a one off fee to buy the game and then you play when you like.

I had my WOW introduction this week and was unimpressed. What turned me way down was the mobility. I would only consider playing a mage that can portal, otherwise I'd kick that game's butt out the window. Walk time is down time and it is way way way worse than load screen time in my opinion.

Rappelz, Metin2, Ragnorok online, knight online, guild wars (Have to pay for CD but no monthly cost)... etc

go find a private server for WoW or maybe lineage 2 that works too

Still play WoW on and off, got a lvl 70 lock on a flying mount so that's a bit better on the 'walking time' cause Beorn is right: walking sucks. The BC expansion did a lot to fix that though cause portals to all cities are available in Shattrath city so you just make that your home and you can portal to shat from anywhere and to all major cities from shat.

I play like matrix, play for a while, leave it for a while again, so Blizzard must be very happy with me as I just keep paying fees even when I dont play. Don't really see an alternative cause I dont wanna start over every time I pick up the game again.

I used to play EQ as well, but I feel WoW is the better game. Swingue played GW as well, but I thnk he liked WoW best cause that's the only mmorg he picks up now and again.
