You guys have me all fired up for World Cup action so I thought we'd try a different kind of game. There's a website that trades the futures prices on each team so I thought we'd play along.
Here's how it works....
Everyone gets 500 euros. No fractional purchases, rounding will always be down and I hope you'll help me to keep your account straight.
The beauty is you can jump in the game at any point but those building profits early will have an advantage.
Ultimately all prices will end at either 0 or 100 but will change every day during the Cup. I'll keep the daily prices by posting them once a day(unless someone in Europe wants to help me).
I'm GMT -5 so I'll update the market prices at midnight GMT.
You can buy (long) at the ask and sell at the bid. This means you can sell a country short as well.
Two examples:
Let say you buy (long) 9 Brazil at 52 this costs you 468 invested and 32 Euros in cash however if you sold 9 Brazil you'd receive 51 or 459 Euros.
On a short you want the price of that team to go down. But be careful because you can't lose more than the cash (or long "buy positions") you have and
the next days offer will be used to calculate your short position meaning your cash balance will rise or fall daily if you short sell.
For instance if you have 500 euros and sell short 20 units at
15 (300 euros invested and 200 in cash) and the price goes up to
25you're wiped out or have to sell one of your "buy positions" to cover. I will mark to market daily against your cash if you short sell a team. Meaning don't run into a team that's rising daily or it will hurt you cash and possibly force you to sell a long position.
I'm going to eliminate some of the weaker teams so you can't trade them. You'll also note that some teams have a wider bid offer spread since they are less actively traded so be careful trading these teams.

you can buy at last midnights prices untill todays matches start. When the 1st match starts the market closes and reopens at next midnight GMT.
