Optical Illusions that make you feel ill

Wow - lookie here! I have always been fascinated with optical illusions, and I jsut found some really good ones. More 'line' optical illusions to follow - these all concentrate on 'rotational' illusions.

Before anyone tells me I posted animated Gifs - I can promise all these images are static!

Rotating Snakes

Stare at one part of the pic and the rest of the 'snakes' appear to be rotating...

'Dongururin'

Similar to the last one...

Radioactive Rainbow

This is harder to see, but if you stare for a while you should see faint radial lines of colour....

This is the biggest headfuck of all. Stare at the image and the rings appear to move forwards and back. Now move yourself towards the image - not only do the different rings rotate in different directions, but when you move back both rings change direction...

pity, I must be too good at fixation. If I stare hard it all stops. If, on the otehr hand, I let my eyes wander a bit it works beautifully....

OK, replace 'stare' with 'focus on one point and relax your eyes' ;)

How about using these for a terrain mod in CIV?

WildFire 12-09-2003 20:21

Nah, I'd just hate the ai for moving their units during my turn...

But these are great pics indeed! You would't imagine my gymnastics I just performed in front of my monitor in the cause of changing view angles and such.

I can see "animations" in all pics, except for the "Radioactive Rainbow".
[???]
This one is simply static to me, no matter what I try to do. But I'm a bit colour-blind, maybe that just explains it.
But what's the deal with it? Special wave lengths and different shades of brightness in a certain geometry cause your *experienced* (or devastated) brain to "expect" any movement? Because these circumstances would *almost* be just like that -as far as you could differentiate- if there was animations?

:D
Hmm, or, as I like to smell wicked theories of conspira/KLICK...OK, I FULLY AGREE, MITY GRANDMASTER ANARRES, I WILL SERVE TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD. ALL SHALL EAT THE GREAT MARMITE.[:p]

'Radioactice Rainbow' has very feint lines of colour radiating out from the center, nothing really moves.

Here are some more:

The Music

Black dots appear or disappear in the white circles. Also the grey lines dissapear when you fixate near the center, bu that effect is lame IMO. It kina hurts when you look at it for too long though...

Convection

The round objects appear to move around the squares slowly. This can be hard to spot.

The Sun

Although the check pattern consists of vertical or horizontal components, the figure appears to bulge out or to move.

Karakasa

The inside blue/red ring appears to be purple/red.

Joro-gumo

The inset appears to move. This one is good!

Wedding in Japan

Squares appear to be distorted and to be wavy.
