Why was the site down?
 

Our ISP decided to do a server migration. After the migration CDZ was down, but I was on holiday and only noticed when I returned.

All is fixed now!!

There were as many server migrations than new threads in the last two weeks!

Who of you did program that spambot that increased thread-count?!

It's the ISP, he wants to check what happens if someone posts on this site.

After carefully avoiding VB updates for years it seems we´ve hit a wall.

Our VB version only supports old PHP while our ISP likes support slightly newer versions. ISP has put us back on old PHP without any hassle (Thank you WNED!) but I fear we've reached the point were an upgrade is necessary.

Although traffic at CDZ is low these days :) I still plan on upgrading. Dunno when I'll get around to it though, going from 3.x.x to 4.x or 5.x apparently takes some trial and error if you wanna keep your old data.

I think upgrading is a good idea, some spambots have penetrated our defenses.

Just wanted to say, most upgrades involve security, so it might be a smart move anyway.

So... if you're going to do an update anyway, is there something we could do with the site to, well, increase spam? Perhaps there's some plugin that'd make it easy to share screenshots from Steam? That'd be nice with civ6 coming up.

I'll look into that. Maybe the new VB is a bit more friendly on that front already.

Yeah, that was the annual "I'll sent you an invoice for 2019 just before x-mas and if you dont pay in 2 weeks I'll shut you down" outage. As I don't check my mail that much around this time this is becoming a yearly occurence.

Tried to argue that I find it very weird that I've paid till 31st of january 2019 but still get disconnected when I don't pay the 1/2/2019 - 31/1/2020 invoice within 2 weeks in de december. But apart from this their service is really ok so we'll have to learn to live with this quirk I guess.
