Humankind
Saw news from the game Humankind recently, and Beam mentioned it in another thread. Game is due 2021, and it is developed by a Parisian game studio. Just read that thread about Endless Space from 2012 (Shabba), which was their first game.
Anyway, reviews of the alpha say it can become a real challenger for Civ. |
Civ6 is still one of the most played games on Steam, and civ5 still has half of that number of players. Amplitude's games have a more niche appeal, I doubt they'll actually challenge Firaxis. But as far as making a more enjoyable game, well, how hard can it be...

I've had a lot of fun with civs 1 through 4. Civ5 and 6 are just too easy. I could go into detail, but right now I have to work. I think I've put my thoughts on them in a thread somewhere here...

It was supposed to be released this week but for balancing purposes it has been postponed to august. A pity but on other hand no need for another PTW disaster.
There is an OpenDev available for pre-orderers and as I couldn't resist the need to purchase it I just played my first couple of turns. Looks nice but hey this is strategy so who bothers with estethix. |
From what I've seen of it it does sound interesting, but balancing could screw up a lot. If they've just decided to postpone launch that isn't a good sign.
