Offensive defender
I normally play 3-5-2 with an offensive defender (def. passable, PM formidable, plays as IM in friendlies to be trained) and a WTM.
For the important match against the 2nd on Saturday my OffDef is injured. What should I do now? The options: - A player with passable def. and PM passable as OD - A player with solid def and PM inad but wretched form as OD - Letting a IM play as OD but they have max inad. defending - No offensive defender Against that team I need defense but more ball posession is the best defense. What do you think? |
My first option would be to play an IM with indaequate defending. My second option is passable defending/passable playmaking but both options only if you really need that extra boost.
Normally, I don't play OCDs (Offensive Central defenders) but I don't have any player who could fit in the role, so no surprise. |

I looked at your and his teams performances and if you can get around the normal midfield rating you have in home games (inad (very low)) you should win posession quite easily and the game. Therefore I would go for the third option and play an inner midfielder as an OD. It's only 1 level less in defending that the other option and the extra boost to your midfield should enable you to win the game, although your opponant does have a strong defence but it's alot easier to score than keep a clean sheet and the posession you will win should ensure you have the best chance of winning the game. |
So, I fielded my 4th IM and what happened?
He got injured for 4 weeks! Seems to be a dangerous position! Anyway, I controlled the game and no chance of the other team was mentioned, so playing with the OD was worth it. Thanks for the advice! |
You're welcome. Glad you won. :)
