iPad2

Today is the official Europan iPad2 release date. Anyone plan to get one?

I skipped the 1st edition but I plan to buy an iPad2, not sure if I'll get one today, store start selling them at 17:00 which is very inconvenient for me.

I have an Ipad, getting number 2 seems a bit redundant when it doesn't do *that* much more. I don't really need to take pictures with it and if it's anything like normal iphone standards it'll be crappy quality.

Apparently the iphone4 has better picture quality, so go figure.

Better picture quality or better camera?

It does have quite a few less pixels per inch than the iPhone4 but the total screen resolution is higher.

I was referring to the camera. It's not the ipad2's strong point.

The camera on it is utter crap, my last Nokia mobile (bought that 4 years ago) had a much better one already and that was just a run of the mill phone. But I really don't care about the camera. I mostly want to use it as an e-reader and for games for the kids. I like the fact that it has a backlit screen so you can use it light poor conditions which isn't really easy with e-ink readers. Drawback obviously being that it's useless for reading outside, but I'll just take my old-fashioned books outside.

The camera on my iphone is balls but its just the 3GS

ProPain 25-03-2011 17:12

I have an iPhone4 and I think the camera is ok for a phone. Still not as good as a normal camera obviously.

Why apple decided to put such a retarded cam on the iPad2 is beyond me. I don't think it's a cost driven decision, margins on these ipads must be huge so a better camera wouldn't be a biggie methinks. Still I dont really care, not the reason I wanna get one anyway.

I think it could be connected to the ability to manage and edit photo's almost imediately. I.e. being able to dick around with paint straight away, I guess it's also with the mind of having a decent camera there eventually.

Ipad is definitely useful i'm just struggling to maximise its potential thus far as i'm so concerned about damaging it or getting stolen it rarely leaves the house- obviously not a good thing!

ProPain 26-03-2011 09:18

I plan on buying a 3G one but I do doubt if I'll use it a lot outside the house. BUying e-books on holiday being the most lilkely option.

Still have to get a US based iTunes account though cause the EU bookstore is pathetic.
