what if: Oslo bombing sponsored by Libya

Let's say the bombing and shootings in Oslo were found out to have been financed or, worse, ordered by Qaddafi. Who thinks this would be a NATO collective defense case?

I'd say it's highly unlikely the Colonello had something to do with it. It's very short notice, this usually takes years to plan. It's also an unlikely target, as el Colonello would hate France and Italy a LOT more.

But... IF it would be the case yes, IMO this is a NATO defence case.

Yes, but highly unlikely. Qaddafi doesn't have that much to spend and has to focus it's attention domestically.

If... well, what could they do? Bomb him?

Invade. I guess that's about the only option.

Robi D 23-07-2011 11:25

How could it be a case of collective defence when they are already attacking him?

And if he was involved then it is a target that is no less legitimate then bombing his family home was.

Kingreno 23-07-2011 20:16

Agreed. Libya has "right" to strike back anywhere in the nato area.

Robi D 26-07-2011 11:09

I would not say they have a right, it would be equally wrong to do so

barbu1977 26-07-2011 14:34

They should try to strike military targets, not civilians.
