Did anyone else notice that Facebook is, well, dead? The only people still posting on my timeline: Herr Killer (about three times per hour), some neighbor, a friend's ex, a couple of classmates, and, well, that's about it. I know of two people who actually quit FB (one who posted a farewell message, the other one telling me in person he quit a month ago).

My parents' generation is very much alive on FB, as are local businesses and events. It feels like an old-timey church front yard at times, with people giving each other platitudes, arranging family hangouts and a town cryer for local ads.

Well, to put your boasting in perspective, I recall that you would delete your Facebook account [lol]

Heh, would I have? I don't recall, but I believe you. Oh well, I like to live dangerously.

I can assure you I'm just as active on Facebook nowadays as I ever was.
I seriously think I never put anything on my timeline and haven't posted more than 10 reactions to other posts during my time on FB. I simply can't be arsed. |
But for social media to bring joy to your life rather than just the existential dread brought by seeing the life highlights of others and comparing them to your routine on the daily, you need to engage in it - wisely. I mean, playful social interactions will bring you joy. Short of that, you should delete.
