CDZ Avatars and transparancy
or: why using IE is bad
<missionary mode> Below you see a pic on how the avatar is supposed to look, and how it does look in that certain product from that certain big company: http://wc3.ano-toto.de/civ/CDZAvatar.jpg Sweet and not-so-sweet, hmm? </missionary mode> |
Nice, but what's your point? My avatar has a transparent background, hasn't it? At least, here... and I'm using IE.

And here is the Opera comparison:
Opera: http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/up...1018_opera.jpg 2.08KB MSIE: http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/up...01035_msie.jpg 2.27KB |
Ok, i wasn't clear enough in the first post. [blush] Of course IE can display transparancy, but not alpha transparancy (that is: parts of the image are visible for example 50%). With IE it's either 100% or 0%.
|
And i dont think the pictures i posted showed the proper story so here they are again with a bit more perspective:
Opera: http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/up...0319_opera.jpg 30.94KB MSIE: http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/up...03140_msie.jpg 27.13KB So it looks like MSIE is the looser (Opera is much faster to load pages as well :)) |
Yes, that was my point. Thanks for the help, Digger! [goodjob]
Every normal browser (except IE) can display alpha transparency. And to make my point even more clear, i made a little example pic while digger was doing the same. :) The following pic should always show the background of the page (independent from it's color) on the left - smoothly going over to yellow on the right. You can't do that with the "all-or-nothing" transparancy of gifs. http://wc3.ano-toto.de/trdemo.png |
