Here's a YouTube video of Sid Meier's key note speech on the Game Developers Conferencen in 2010. It's a bit chaotic at times but there are some classic anecdotes in it that are not to be missed, like the psychology of the 20:10 chance. Also some interesting stuff on Civ development.

The kind of poor speech that makes you click away after 2 minutes, right?

It's funny that someone went through it, what I find a bit less funny is that he got down to address those nitpicky un-problems for whiny irrational players at the expense of gameplay ;)
