Kingreno vs Banzai *** SPOILAH***

Me and banzai have got a Demigod game started a couple of days ago. I am Iro, he's maya, on a continents map with barbs.

start:

29.24KB

I moved the setler to the wheated Bonusgrass. it was worker-setler-setler from there. I decided against early granary as there was already a barb close on turn 12![eek]
After 18 turns I met the inca, who were nearly an age ahead of me, having all level one techs, but not alpha! I traded it for gold and BW...not too good, but better then nothing. Pachacuti was great in helping me fend of barbs, sending stacks of warriors after them!:)
after 35 the empire looks like this:

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/up...229_35area.jpg
87.31KB

There is a settler under the vet warrior and grand river is founded on silks. I will now build granaries.

the minimap looks like this:

3.1KB

Notice I made an embassy with the Inca. I got writing last turn, but so did the Inca. I need to find the other AI soon! 10 turns to philo now...

The f11 looks like this, that is before the 4th city is founded. AI can truly NOT handle barbs...

75.74KB

Good stats, but what confuses me is Casa Banzai onthe top of the list...he starts with masonry and pottery, could he have built a temple there?? If so, that will bite back at him. 60 shields...

The game-progress is fast and I will try to update soon. :D

Kemal 29-10-2004 22:48

IIRC, when cultural values are the same, the size of cities begins to play a part in deciding the ranking of the top 5 cities, so I wouldn't get your hopes up too high about Banzai's possible temple, I'm afraid.

Kingreno 30-10-2004 12:46

hmm. I will check next time, but usualy the AI build their capitols a turn before the humans, meaning more culture, and thus a higher ranking. Casa banzai was not there all the time, though having a temple for just a single turn would get you past the AI. Another possibility is the AI had mountainous starts.

NOT GOOD!

But that is for later.

We are aproaching the medieval age and gladly no barbs on my part of the world anymore. The Inca, my neighbours in the South, are huge. They are the only civ in the next age. Their culture is huge, I already lost a city on floodplains with ivory to a flip.
I also met England and teh Byzantines, I am up The republic, Math, currency and Lit to Byzantines and Cur and Lit to Engalnd. They have Monarchy.
This is how my lands look:

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/up...822_93area.jpg
91.38*KB

The Incan troops in the east were going for a barb warrior near Nassius (byzantines). The Inca also give me Ivory. The Inca are also Monarchy, while they do have the republic!
The Minimap:

4.58*KB

No suicide galleys allowed btw.

The f11:

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/up...3052_93f11.jpg
18.16*KB

All in all I am amazed I am ahead in some very important categories,
The plans were to build up some infra like markets and libs, then attack the inca when I have some Miffies gang (mounted warrior rename from beam!)
yes. [u]were</u>.

I end the turn and watch in agony:

"WE HAVE LOST OUR SUPPLY OF IVORY"[:o]

wtf! The Inca were, please note, Gracious towrds me.

In old A.I. tactical briliance they attack Kahnawake in the East, defended by a brave spear, with a regular warrior. No losses for me. Again. lose 1 hp, promote to elite. It is attacked by a reg Sword. lose 1 hp. then again, by a reg sword. lose one hp. AND:

The warriors on the pic have already moved, so amazing play here. Rather lucky too.[mischief]

The downside is I am utterly weak military speaking but that will soon change. I will ally the known world versus this sorry excuse for a gracious neighbour (how does he pay the rent anyway?).
Then. It is miffytime!

Quote:

quote:TIM: To the north there lies a cave -- the cave of Kyre Banorg --
wherein, carved in mystic runes upon the very living rock, the last
words of Ulfin Bedweer of Regett [boom] proclaim the last resting
place of the most Holy Grail.
ARTHUR: Where could we find this cave, O Tim?
TIM: Follow! But! follow only if ye be men of valor, for the entrance
to this cave is guarded by a creature so foul, so cruel that no man
yet has fought with it and lived! Bones of four fifty men lie strewn
about its lair. So, brave knights, if you do doubt your courage or
your strength, come no further, for death awaits you all with nasty
big pointy teeth.
ARTHUR: What an eccentric performance.

Scene 33

[clop clop whinny]
KNIGHT: They're nervous, sire.
ARTHUR: Then we'd best leave them here and carry on on foot. Dis-mount!
TIM: Behold the cave of Kyre Banorg!
ARTHUR: Right! Keep me covered.
KNIGHT: What with?
ARTHUR: Just keep me covered.
TIM: Too late!
[chord]
ARTHUR: What?
TIM: There he is!
ARTHUR: Where?
TIM: There!
ARTHUR: What, behind the rabbit?
TIM: It is the rabbit!
ARTHUR: You silly sod! You got us all worked up!
TIM: Well, that's no ordinary rabbit. That's the most foul, cruel,
and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on.
ROBIN: You tit! I soiled my armor I was so scared!
TIM: Look, that rabbit's got a vicious streak a mile wide, it's a
killer!
KNIGHT: Get stuffed!
TIM: It'll do you a trick, mate!
KNIGHT: Oh, yeah?
ROBIN: You mangy Scot git!
TIM: I'm warning you!
ROBIN: What's he do, nibble your bum?
TIM: He's got huge, sharp-- he can leap about-- look at the bones!
ARTHUR: Go on, Boris. Chop his head off!
BORIS: Right! Silly little bleeder. One rabbit stew comin' right up!
TIM: Look!
[squeak]
BORIS: Aaaugh!
[chord]
ARTHUR: Jesus Christ!
TIM: I warned you!
ROBIN: I peed again!
TIM: I warned you! But did you listen to me? Oh, no, you knew it all,
didn't you? Oh, it's just a harmless little bunny, isn't it? Well,
it's always the same, I always--
ARTHUR: Oh, shut up!
TIM: --But do they listen to me?--
ARTHUR: Right!
TIM: -Oh, no--
KNIGHTS: Charge!
[squeak squeak]
KNIGHTS: Aaaaugh! Aaaugh! etc.
KNIGHTS: Run away! Run away!
TIM: Haw haw haw. Haw haw haw. Haw haw.
ARTHUR: Right. How many did we lose?
KNIGHT: Gawain.
KNIGHT: Hector.
ARTHUR: And Boris. That's five.
GALAHAD: Three, sir.
ARTHUR: Three. Three. And we'd better not risk another frontal
assault, that rabbit's dynamite.
ROBIN: Would it help to confuse it if we run away more?
ARTHUR: Oh, shut up and go and change your armor.
GALAHAD: Let us taunt it! It may become so cross that it will make
a mistake.
ARTHUR: Like what?
GALAHAD: Well,....
ARTHUR: Have we got bows?
KNIGHT: No.
LAUNCELOT: We have the Holy Hand Grenade.
ARTHUR: Yes, of course! The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch! 'Tis one
of the sacred relics Brother Maynard carries with him! Brother Maynard!
Bring up the Holy Hand Grenade!
[singing]
How does it, uh... how does it work?
KNIGHT: I know not, my liege.
ARTHUR: Consult the Book of Armaments!
MAYNARD: Armaments, Chapter Two, Verses Nine to Twenty-One.
BROTHER: "And Saint Atila raised the hand grenade up on high, saying,
'Oh, Lord, bless this thy hand grenade that with it thou mayest blow
thy enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy.' And the Lord did grin, and
people did feast upon the lambs, and sloths, and carp, and anchovies,
and orangutans, and breakfast cereals, and fruit bats, and large --"
MAYNARD: Skip a bit, Brother.
BROTHER: "And the Lord spake, saying, 'First shalt thou take out the
Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three
shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting
shalt be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two,
excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once
the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou
thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thou foe, who being naughty
in my sight, shall snuff it.'"
MAYNARD: Amen.
ALL: Amen.
ARTHUR: Right! One... two... five!
KNIGHT: Three, sir!
ARTHUR: Three!
[boom]

After the extremely lucky leader it was pay-back time. The Inca found themselves surrounded by 3 foes and the Miffies in particular proved too much for Pachicutl. In the proces I also got a second leader, again used for an army.

The incan cities are large and provide a load of workers when razed. The Inca have great culture so keeping'em is no option. In the meantime, I am using the golden age for Mounted warriors in my core.

Techs. Banzai got the great library and without Suicide galleys (not allowed) that is a problem, that could be abused! He is very likely not doing any research at all, cashing in heavily. He waits for his 3 neighbours to do the research. However, productivity values indicate I am probably techleader now, followed by England and Byzantines. His continent is probably 2 to 3 techs behind me. I am going for education in 5 now, with astro to follow. I am already preparing all coastal cities for galley production and as of now all newly produced Miffies Gang are kept near boarding point. I will then load them, the second army (kept it empty!) and a few pikes and sail for Mayan lands. He will probably (hopefully ;)) never know what hit him. It would be nice to have some knights as well, but there is no time to research that myself, so lizzie and theodora will have to do it.[evil]
The lands. I will sail from Akwesasne to the west/southwest.

At turn 108 (the pic's from 106) I am also first in Land area![eek]

Cuzco is expected to fall soon, giving the Hanging Gardens AND the Pyramids! Looking forward to that!

Grille 02-12-2004 19:59

A Miffy per turn from one city alone is indeed great!

Looks like printing press/contact trading could possibly become very valueable with respect to TGL abuse...

Kingreno 10-12-2004 21:25

Going great.

It also has the Pyramids!!![eek]

The Incan war went smooth though the anticipated FP-leader did not show. The incans got one, but he died with the last of his kind!

Astronomy is in the bag now and my continent lacks education. Next trn boats will start exploring seasquares, but what we realy need is Nav. It is due in 7...then 4 Caravels will land 10 Miffies, one pike and an empty army in Banzais backyard. Where-ever that may be.

The tension!

My fleet found a safe spot! Even before nav we found a seasquare in an ocean. There are several possibilities. First, Banzai could be on a similar continent as me; that would rock as I am very close to him now AND know where to land the troops. Second, it is inverted; I meet some other civ and will have severe difficulties suprising banzai. Third, his continent is totaly different from mine; anything is possible!

This continent lacks...theology! [charge]

They do all have engineering. I buy it from rome for 10 gpt and Mono, which they lack, but the rest have. I sell engineering to my mates at home, byzies and england, for 55 gpt and 100 lump sum.
I have met all but Banzai, and the island is EXACTLY like mine. I know where he will be, and when I come from the north while he attacks the Dutch, who have a huge army, I will most certainly do some heavy damage.
The minimap:

On the domestic front. I have Universities in major cities or am building them. Banzai has no Education yet so he must be unbelievably rich or racing for cav. The latter would be nice as that would skip the chivalry and mean my MW's are king of the new lands. we'll see. either way he is screwed as I can sell techs on both islands, for some time to come now.
