Pics from Wellington !! *warning, big files*

Here I am, biding my time in Wellington. It's 1.15 AM on November 16th and we are waiting for the ferrie to the south island. It is leaving at 3 am [crazyeye] We were so 'clever' to only book it 2 days in advance. Everything was fully booked, except for this dreadful time [aargh].

This country (New Zealand) is mourning. They just lost the rugby semi-final vs Australia.

Greetings to you all and 'see' you again in three weeks [thumbsup]

Skyfish 15-11-2003 12:21

Hi !
Great to see you again ;)

That rugby loss is indeed amazing they were favourites to win the tournament !
Did you check out the Ladder to contemplate your first place ? Hope you did 'cause it aint gonna last long [mwaha]

ERIKK 15-11-2003 14:16

digger760 17-11-2003 10:28

Can you do me a favour Aggie, when walking about the streets, can you shout this chant:

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie
Oi,Oi, Oi.
Aussie, Aussie, Aussie
Oi,Oi, Oi
Aussie, Aussie
Oi
Aussie, Aussie
Oi
Aussie, Aussie, Aussie
Oi,Oi, Oi.

That'll really stir them kiwis up!!!! [evil]

Carn the Wallabies!!!!

Darkness 17-11-2003 10:53

Hey Aggie! Did you see any Kiwi's? I hear they're very rare in the wild now...

Plux 17-11-2003 12:08

Hey Aggie, can you plz direct some peace talk towards your ddpp-stand in? It's only three turns or so, and he shows up with his troops at my border [}:)]

anarres 17-11-2003 14:12

Hi Aggie! Hope all is well in the land of sheep. :D

Skyfish 17-11-2003 15:01

Lt. Killer M 17-11-2003 15:39

hm, plux no be talking online - hidden in the bunker already?????

Plux 17-11-2003 15:55

Wouldn't call it a spoiler, more of an early peek. You'd prolly get the picture in a few turns anyway, when you'll see all yellow on the WM diminish :D

Sir Eric 17-11-2003 21:02

Hi Aggie, If your willing to go for a walk in the mountains down south there is an awesome looking green parrot (Cant remember it's name) that lives up there. He doesn't fly, he just walks on the ground. He lives amongst the tufts of grass and looks pretty spectacular.
Have a good one. :)

Aggie 18-11-2003 05:42

Sir Eric, I already saw those Kea's ;)

Lt. Killer M 18-11-2003 09:35

aggie,he meant not keas but kakapos ;)

Kea = flies, shouts 'kea, kea' all the time (ornithologists love that, makes them easy to identify)
Kakapo = walks, hides, is quiet --> extremely hard to find (also because there are like 30 or so left that all now live on a tiny island where they were taken to protect them from cats and mice)

Shabbaman 18-11-2003 10:30

Beware of the killer moa's! Did you see any? That'd be cool since they're extinct. Oh, do they sell conquests over there?

Sir Eric 19-11-2003 05:23

Thanks Killer I couldn't remember the name ( I was too lazy to walk to the bookshelf :p ). I didn't realize that they had moved them to an island. I hope they increase their numbers again.

Aggie. How about a bit of info on where you've been and what you've done so far?

Check out Douglas Adams 'Last chance to see' ;)

Well, I saw a green parrot called a Kea. It can fly and looks like this:

http://danny.oz.au/travel/new_zealand/j/kea.jpg

Up to now we spent about three days in Maleysia, 9 days on the North Island and 5 on the south island.

Amongst others we did a couple of hikes (vulcanic Toraringo and White Island, Abel Tasman track, Franz Josef glacier) and a lot of boat rides.

We have had a huge amount of good luck regarding the weather, but tomorrow will be bad and our scheduled Routeburn track two day hike is cancelled.

So we decided to go south even more and visit Dunedin and the eastern shores of the South Island. The weather should be better there.

Still planned are the Kepler Track (3 days), Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound, Mt Cook, Mt Aspiring. A lot to do and the weather looks to be improving. But it will be cold (12 degrees C)

Lt. Killer M 20-11-2003 08:46

the glacies sounds nice... [envy]....... ;)

ProPain 20-11-2003 12:49

I;m jealous, I wanna go back to NZ too [cry]

Seems you have a good time! enjoy yourself while we wait for c2c.

Plux 20-11-2003 13:36

In three weeks I will watch a nine hour documentary about NZ. It's split in three parts, I bet which I'm talking about ;)

Pastorius 20-11-2003 14:31

That's one sick avatar, if I ever saw one.
Hope you re having a great time.
Sicko [:p]

Aggie 23-11-2003 06:03

Hey what happened to Tom Yorke [cry]

Anyway, the last two days were awesome. In the Milford Sound we had PERFECT weather and I must say that it can compete with the finest scenery that I have seen in my life. Now we are in Quuenstown and I did a bungy jump, with a dip [eek]. Tomorrow will be spent with Jetboating and Rafting and then the Kepler track is on. It looks to be perfect weather for these things. Sun and 22 degrees celcius :D

Aggie 05-12-2003 06:45

I'm back [cry].

I had a perfect time in New Zealand and need a lot of time to recover/develop my 2000+ photos, but I'll buy Conquest today [hammer]

Plux 05-12-2003 08:52

Good to have you back Aggie! Too bad you just missed the ddpp power session this tuesday. It was a classic ;).

Lt. Killer M 05-12-2003 09:49

Aggie, welcome back to rainy drizzly foggy Europe! :)

digger760 05-12-2003 09:56

Tom Yorke is back as well ;)

anarres 05-12-2003 10:14

Welcome back! :D

Skyfish 05-12-2003 10:23

[dance] [party]
YEEHA! Great to have you back !

Sir Eric 05-12-2003 10:25

Any chance of you posting some piccies so we can have sticky beak at your hols?
welcome back to the real world

ERIKK 05-12-2003 10:27

Welcome Aggie! :)

Yeah, lets see some pics of your trip!

Did you see LOTR - TROTK?

Darkness 05-12-2003 10:58

Hey Aggie, welcome back! :)

ProPain 05-12-2003 12:20

WB Aggie!

Lt. Killer M 05-12-2003 13:19

I bet he is sleeping off a monumentuous jetlag atm ;)

Darkness 05-12-2003 13:28

Yeah the time difference between NZ and the netherlands is pretty painful. (jetlag-wise that is... )

Aggie 05-12-2003 16:43

ERIKK, there was no escaping in NZ from the world premiere of TROTK, but I wasn't one of the 2000 invited guests to see the movie... The rest of NZ has to wait for the world premiere.

I have to say that the movies didn't appeal to me, but 4 weeks of indoctrination changed that. This movie is very much a NZ thing. The whole country is going mad!

Killer, Darkness: The jetlag is 12 hours, but I try to get into the European rythm ASAP, because I have to go to work on Monday [eek]
