Overview of the starts:

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/up...eTheWorld2.jpg

Essential info for playing:

How to log in:
- Start Civ4 - Warlords
- Go to Multiplayer => Direct IP Connection
- Fill in your nickname for Player Name and beam.homelinux.com or 83.161.37.29 for Network Address and click Connect.
- Select your civilization and click Ok.
- Choose a password and fill it in twice. Next time, it will ask for the same password. (No shit! )
- Play!
- Exit to menu when you're done! The connection doesn't close properly when you exit the game directly, resulting in the game going slower and slower every time someone does that. In effect I would have to save and reload the game every turn.

Here's an easy to use program to log into a Pitboss game automatically:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=172459
Not useful for logging in the first time.

Here's the map, so that you can have a look at the map yourself. You don't need it to play the pitboss.

The doublemove rule in this game:

Doublemoves are allowed in all cases except when accompanied by a declaration of war. In that case the declaring player is not allowed any offensive action against declared player until either:
a) 18 hours after end of the turn where war is declared.
b) the declared player logs in after end of the turn where war is declared.
The declaration of war itself still allows units of the declaring player offensive actions against the declared player in the turn where war is declared.

Robboo 24-10-2007 03:59

Time frame for start Beam?

/helping to get to page 7

Beam 24-10-2007 08:47

Game will start today when I get back from work. :)

Darkness 24-10-2007 08:59

Since some of you modded this map, you know a bit of how the resources lie, right?
Could you please post the map, so the rest of us can take a peek at our starts too?

And tell me where to save the map on my computer so I can do a test start for the Vikings?

Or am I not supposed to do this?

Robi D 24-10-2007 09:03

The map is in the first post of the sign up thread. You can do as many test starts as you wish :)

OK, thanks...
But where (what folder) do I save the map on my harddrive to be able to play it?

In the scenario's folder maybe?

Robi D 24-10-2007 10:17

Save the file to your hardrive anywhere you want. You just double click on the file and it automatically starts the game and takes you to the start up screen. Pick your civ and away you go.

First post updated with 2.7 for the WBS:
- Improved Mali core
- Improved Viking core
- Various smaller edits including sheep in NZ ;)

Beam 24-10-2007 23:32

It giet oan!!! (Frisian for it's started).

Please claim your civ asap. Turn timer is at 22 hours which in RL will mean about 24 hours.

Matrix 25-10-2007 00:31

Claimed. :)

It didn't occur to me before that my 'recruits' and I are all on the American continent. [lol]

BCLG100 25-10-2007 01:17

is there civstats? the link doesnt work in the first post.

Also are we having a ten turns no war thing or not?

BCLG100 25-10-2007 01:27

Also seeing as your both still online, anyways we can restart and i get the leader i asked for? (qin)

If others didnt get who they wanted then i can just play anyways.

akots 25-10-2007 02:09

I claimed India but would need some time to plan the starting moves with the map.

@BCLG: Be content with what you have. ;)

akots 25-10-2007 02:14

NM, double post.

NHJ 25-10-2007 02:39

Alright! I'll check it out later tonight.

Robboo 25-10-2007 03:16

whats the rules for diplo and DM?

Serious questions.
1. trade maps prior to paper?
2. Contact any one even if we havent met them?
3. Why does my boss take 2 days of vacation when we are a month behind on a major funding project?

Robi D 25-10-2007 03:29

1. we already know the map so not being able to trade screenshots is pointless
2. No
3. He is a boss which by definition makes him an ass :)

And we should restart it since simon did ask for qin and everyone else got their choice.

grahamiam 25-10-2007 04:12

I agree that Robboo's boss is an ass. Oh, and on the restart too [:P]

akots 25-10-2007 05:52

1. Sure, why not. We'll draw them on parchment or lambskin.
2. I think it is possible to contact neighbors. Otherwise, this would get dirty pretty soon. May be 30 turns of peace then at the beginning.
3. He is the boss and can do what he wants. I just don't show up for work and save vacation days for long trips. ;) And being behind is a natural state of affairs. [:P]

akots 25-10-2007 05:52

So, do we restart or not?

Robboo 25-10-2007 06:25

if we restart..anyone want to switch civs. I hate being in America again. Sorta left out of "world politics" for too long.

30 turns of peace sounds good..especially since some of us have neighbors who could UU us to death in less than 30.

The Americas have a galley run to europe (via greenland) and east asia (bering straits) so you can get involved in world politics early on:D

Beam 25-10-2007 08:13

I jsut replaced Mao with Qin in the WBS and going to restart now.

Beam 25-10-2007 08:24

Restarted. There is an option "Take over AI". What does that do?

Robi D 25-10-2007 08:52

Take over AI means the AI plays for you when a human retires. If not on the whole nation gets destroyed.
So its best to have it on

Shit, means another restart. [aargh] [aargh] [cry]

Matrix 25-10-2007 12:24

Native Americans appear to have started with only one warrior. Could you check that too? [mischief]

Robboo 25-10-2007 12:56

civstats password?

???

Robi D 25-10-2007 13:25

so you can register your leader on civstats

Edit- At least i'm getting some practise with my opening moves ;)

Robi D 25-10-2007 13:44

Lucky you hadn't restarted yet. I went in to see if i need to play my turn again and logged in as China[lol]

Just habit i guess:D

BCLG100 25-10-2007 14:36

unless you didnt move anything wouldnt have made any difference, everyone can see everyone elses starting position! just woulda had to tell me the password!

Beam 25-10-2007 14:57

So you are asked for a password when registering your leader? Please post a pic where it is asked and I'll look at it back home in a couple of hours.

Beam 25-10-2007 15:11

I guess you get this when registering your leader:

"Select your Leader:
Registration Password: *
Your game administrator chooses this password. It is not your player password."

Your game administrator will remove the need for a password tonight.

BCLG100 25-10-2007 15:36

Im not sure beam, i haven't looked into it yet. I'll go and try and log in in a sec.

I didn't move. I notice that i wasn't looking at italy. I'll send you the password but i though Beam was restarting again to enable take over AI

Dandridge 25-10-2007 17:43

I looked the map now and was wondering why Russia is left with so few happiness resources. Most other civs, except maybe the Native Americans, have at least 3 happiness resources within 4-5 squares from the starting point. Russia has only 2 Furs and next happiness resources are about 8 squares away. No need to restart because of this though. Offers nice challenge I think ;)
