Tsunehisa Kimura's Visual Scandals by Photomontage

Was looking for some T-shirt motives, so I scanned one of my favourite image-books. Guess you might like it too.

thanks smalltalk :)

Pretty freaky shit! Whilst a couple of them seem just 'pretty pictures' (even if visually quite stunning) I think some of them are really very powerful... the hiroshima image with billboards standing is quite disturbing even (=good). The faceless crowd and Superman crucified are also very striking. And is that picasso running over his own creations?

Hmm... must find out more about this guy...

ha! Cool!

Im especially like the Hiroshima one, and it makes me glad (again) to live in a country where there are hardly any billboards....... Maybe we could learn the lesson now and keep it as is......

[lol] @ Picasso, too!

I like them, esp the first one with the rising oceans flooding the big apple. Last year I was in the Toulouse museum of Modern Art, where they had a exposition of pictures displaying all kinds of future influence of islam in the west. Photoshops of big mosques in NY and veggie markets in all over the place, things like that..

Very nice pics![goodjob]

My favourite would be 'Hiroshima Billboards' as well. It may not be that eye-catching on a T-shirt, though; at least in comparison to 'Picassso', 'Superman' or 'Pyramids'.

Btw, about the cloud-tits: There's indeed a cloud type that comes close, called 'cumulus mammatus' (the name alone indicates the association with tits;)). They are very rare (in central/northern Europe, that is). I was lucky to see such in last year's summer here in Kiel, just before a thundery front came through.

Here's a link to a site which has pics with that titty cloud type:

oops, that was a bit bigger than i expected

wouldnt it be better to have someone else running over his figures eg Georges Braque with a speech bubble saying "that'll teach you , you spanish bastard, I'm the father of modernism !!"

But the man in the mirror is indeed Picasso.
If you take a look at a photo of 'younger' Picasso (rather than looking at the painting portraing younger Picasso;)), you'd even notice some similarities to the 'older' Picasso in the mirror.
But Georges Braque in the mirror would be cool as well ("I don't brake for 'semi'-cubism"...).

Well whatever, here's 'older' Picasso:

I was joking, and the joke was, as much as anything, about the nature of representational art. It was though clearly not funny.

I like the one with the blanked faces...

But! Did you notice that the last pic (superman on cross) is almost the exact same pic as the Dali one with jesus on a cross?

A few others also seem to be heavily infulenced by Dali...

Yep, I knew. Thats why the pic is named superman_hypercubus. The original is called IIRC cristus hypercubus. (Shouldn't a hypercube have one additional dimension?)

Tsunhehisa Kimura was born 1928. The book were I got the pics from is from 1979. So the pics are perhaps as old as some of the youngsters here.

Here's some more:

These are scanned from the outer envelope and blown up.

Kimura's desaster pictures keep reminding me of the fiction of J.G. Ballard. Maybe some of you have heard of him.

A friend of mine, who has travelled the world, claims everywhere civilization has spread, there is also Coca-Cola available. Too bad it was stripped from the Coca part.

Enjoy! Coke is it! (Nah not really.)
