This game is getting interesting. Now that Plux takes a holiday for a week I have enough time to make a decent spoiler.

We play a deity game with 2 settlers for the humans. I am the Chinese, Plux is the Arabs with the same traits as me. Nightfa11 made the map.

This was my start:

Turn 10:
I decided to go for a first ring at 4, 4.5.

Turn 70:
And the second ring at 8, 8.5.

Turn 84:
After buying Polytheism from the Koreans, I enter the Middle Ages. Plux did enter it the same turn.

Turn 88:
Plux is at war with Korea. This tiny nation is rich and scientifically advanced, but too weak to defend itself.

Turn 100:
Plux is very succesful is his war:
http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/Aggie/200310119655_AP100map.jpg
8.35*KB

I decided to wait for Riders. Only a couple of bordertowns (Rome, America) are very appealing:

Turn 120:
My first war, with the Americans, got me Miami and Buffalo:
http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/Aggie/2003101191253_AP120americanwar.jpg
57.64*KB

Turn 135:
After the peace with America, I went for a couple of Roman cities. Also. Korea declared war. While attacking them, I entered the Golden Age.

Turn 138:
Plux's empire now is very close to mine. But before focussing on him, I have my eye on:
http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/Aggie/2003101192217_AP138tgltrondhiem.jpg
12.14KB

My plan is to capture Trondhiem and keep it for one turn. This should give me Theology and Gunpowder. After that I want to raze the place, because Plux is too close to it.

However, Plux blocked my path to Trondheim:
http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/Aggie/2003101192427_AP138blockade.jpg
12.28KB

He didn't move for two turns. I was afraid that he would beat me to it, so:
http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/Aggie/2003101192557_AP138wararabs.jpg
35.01KB

After my attack I immediately offered peace with Plux. But since he wasn't online and I really wanted to end the turn, I decided to:

It turned out that I also got Chemistry for free [hammer]

Turn 146:

A couple of relatively quiet turns followed. I got peace with Rome and also managed to agree upon a ROP. Plux razed two Russian town to his south. His troops to the south and me having a quick route in the north, made my choice easy:

after

Note that Plux moved the capitol to Wonsan [evil]

With Plux and me in the Golden Age, these are the demographics:

20.9*KB

He managed to get peace with Russia and America. I decided to NOT get MA's with them again. I wanted to wait until Carthage and the Vikings also made peace.

Turn 150:

A couple of turns already, since the fall of three Arab cities, this is what the Military Advisor says (sorry anarres, I believe him):
http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/Aggie/2003101195041_AP150strong.jpg
18.65*KB

On the diplo front also things changed. Rome and America turned against me for instance (due to Plux). I got Cathage besides me in the wars. They are my neighbours, strong and also a valued trade partner. Should Plux turn them against me, it would be unpleseant but I will get a lot of cash back:
http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/Aggie/2003101195258_AP150diplo.jpg
52.18*KB

My troops are prepared for an attack on Wonsan. Plux probably hasn't noticed them, but they can get there in one turn:
http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/Aggie/200310119567_AP150preparedforwonsan.jpg
54.71*KB

Like I said:
http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/Aggie/2003101195957_AP150afterwonsan.jpg
47.88*KB

This is the world map now:
http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/Aggie/2003101110152_AP150map.jpg
8.34*KB

And the demograpics show that I ended my Golden Age, Plux probably not:
http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/Aggie/2003101110318_AP150demo.jpg
20.37*KB

My goal now is to remain at war with Plux. He must be having a lot of war weariness. I will also constantly get the world vs Plux. Plux may be getting a force strong enough to fight me (I must leave a strong force behind, to counterattack a possible Carthage invasion), but how to keep an eye on my troops when Russia comes from the south [evil]?

Tech-wise I know Mettalurgy. So soon we will be in the cavalry age. Plux still has to learn Chemistry. I'm hoping that the sight of cavalry will be a blow too big to handle...

The power of Riders in the right hands he ? [thumbsup]
Beautiful game since now, you are dominating him no doubt, what a stupid move it was to move his capital to Korea before he had proper defenses there, unbelievable.
I also dont get why he did not go the TGlib before you [scratch]

Aggie

@Sky, he had it defended well enough to keep AI away. But humans fight the wars in another way :)

Can't understand the capital move/missed TGL raid either.
Maybe Plux moved the capital before you declared war on him?
Or did "just moved capital to Wonsan" mean it went there around turn 146?

I said that he moved the capital there, not 'just moved' ;). It happened about 5 turns before our war. That was my trigger to conquer TGL!! I was obviously under the impression that he would attack the Vikings.

EDIT: Note that the borders of Wonsan already had expanded at turn 135. It was his city South East in his empire.

My bad. Sorry for mis-quoting you.
(I should have moved the word "just" before the word "went";)).

Anyway, things clear now (I think...).

I hope Plux's capital went to an ugly place in the north in the process...[evil]

His capital moved to the centre of his empire (Anjar). As you can see, it will take me quite a trip to reach the other cities:

These are my future plans. With enough troops, I will place troops on the red 'X' as a distraction and then attack via the black line. Obviously that route is more logical, because my riders can reach Yamama from the black 'X', outside Plux's sight:

Looks good. :)

Hopefully Plux wouldn't use fast moving units for recon duty near Yamama. Anyways, all those mountains near Plux's cities are always a good place to rest some riders/cavs...

Kufah looks a bit "riverish", or is it just the river source there?

If you'll spare an attack on Basra (for the time being at least), I'd recommend to bring along an explorer w/ the destraction forces to the red "X".
Don't know for sure if it's his only sources, but pillaging that saltpeter & incense looks *at least* like a MA deal breaking enforcement, hehe [satan]

Aggie

I will have 20 riders next turn. It will take about 4 turns to reach Yamama with all of them. Should I get a ROP with Rome, it will take one turn less. But I'm now at war with the Romans (the third one). They may not be willing to talk.

I have 1000 gold in the treasury. So enough money to rush a few military unties more. Another option in the Arab war is having a fleet ready and attack from the west (mountain of Khurasan. Unfortunatelly it will require the tech Navigation or Magnetism. Still a few turns away...

EDIT: @Grille: he has another source of saltpeter, but it appears to be unhooked. Explorers are still far away. Also: he could use his ansar warriors for recon duties, but they are very weak in defense. So he would get valuable information, but would also lose units. I would surely be using them if I were the Arabs.

Turn 153:

Plux just made peace with Carthage. This gives me the opportunity to get new MA's vs him with Carthage and the Russians. I see a lot of Russian troops around his borders. I hope that they can be great diversions. I still keep myself hidden, but a cunning Plux could scout an Ansar warrior through the area...

Turn 156:

This is either a bold move or a stupid one. I send in 20 Riders. Unfortunatelly my hiding place is now in sight of Plux's military:

Turn 157:

Plux didn't attack my stack at all [:o]

In the bottom left of the pic, a nice surprise from the battle. But where to keep it with troops from Plux around? I took a gamble and went south...

Turn 159:

I could easily take 3 other cities because Plux ran out of military. Russia and Carthage were great allies:

Plux concedes.

Did you manage to keep your Great Leader ?

Aggie
23-10-2003, 11:59
I did. Plux simply didn't have enough troops to get rid of the SoD of Riders, so the leader was safe.
