This about sums up the entire situation. First I was trapped between a Greek hoplite and that Ottoman spearman. Then Greece declared war to me and the hoplite moved in-land. I killed it, and took over that narrow passage. Now we have peace and I'm exploring beyond Greek territory and will try to get as much free land in the west as possible.

As you can see I got both passages of my subcontinent. Unfortunately though the Greek got most of the beautiful grasslands in the west. I hope I'll find some nice spots to settle when the galleys are done.

You should whip the galleys to be faster : one can be whipped this turn in Aarhus and another one in 1 turn in Stockholm :D

I declared war with the Greek. I'm far behind in tech, but I got to do something. I don't have any useful improvements to build in the cities so I was a lot of building units, and in republic they costs money, and delay my research even more. So I have to attack.

But then again, I have hoplites and probably medieval infantry against me. Let's hope my quantity will suffice and the RNG will be with me.

The war against Greece is going good! Even though they have medieval infantry and hoplites and I just swordmen, but I simply outnumber them. :D

Some deal, huh? :D I'm still far behind in tech though. That's probably the reason he's giving me so much for iron.

Anyway, as you can see anarres is big. [sad] He also is better developed which you can see when you compare our capitals: Mecca (http://www.straland.com/images/cdz/anarresMecca.jpg) and Trondheim (http://www.straland.com/images/cdz/anarresTrondheim.jpg). To be realistic, it's quite hopeless. But I'll do my best. [rolleyes]

Next thing I'll do is upgrading all my swordmen to medieval infantries. ;)

I reckoned upgrading all those swordmen is gonna cost me way too much, so I simply attacked. That was not a good idea. [rolleyes]
I lost 9 of the 12 swordmen in the battle against Athens! [eek] They had four hoplites and one stayed alive, with 1 hitpoint. [wallbash] Now I'm retreating and I will upgrade what's left (including some swordmen still on their way to the front).

After much trouble I was able to capture Athens. One 1HP hoplite killed two veteran medieval infantries of mine, but I attacked with the last unit of mine still active that turn: a veteran pikeman. [rolleyes] He won, losing just one HP. :D

Now read this: Athens has Great Library. Because of that I received this turn:

With berserks I should be able to kill these Greek. Of course I still don't stand a chance against anarres, but hey, I gotta do something. [rolleyes] I'll try to get as many points as possible.

How are you doing on the tech front compared to anarres now you got a tech boost from the great lib. Looking at the land mass, you should watch out for domination vic by anarres

I'm in the golden age now. The war against Greece is going slow but good.

I just invented Gunpowder, am working on Chemistry. Sold iron to Carthage for Astronomy, 61 gold & 37 gpt.

But I noticed anarres just entered the industrial age!! [eek]

War weariness started to bother me big time and I almost didn't have any libraries or marketplaces, so I signed a peace treaty with the Greek. I'll finish them off later. ;)

Anarres already has lots of railroads. [rolleyes] I'm busy with metallurgy myself.
