View Full Version : ERIKK - KEMAL
Turn 57
9 gpt + 50g was the final cost for WM, MM and Philo. This time my
gamble had a good result. But we all know the AI does crappy map
trading. There is always gold to win with map trading. Looking at
the map we see it is a rocky one and that there also are some jungles
around. It has a great resemblence of my second game against Aggie.
Anyway I think my territory is a better one then Kemals one. He is
boxed in in the south and east but in his north there are still
places to settle. I very much think that it is the result of his
close building and probably a bunch of early granaries. I am also 4
techs ahead of Kemal but this says nothing in the BC's...
I have a good chance of getting the Pyramids as the Greeks and
Carthaginians just swapped as the Vikings created the Oracle.

Seems like an interesting game. Where will the final conflict come: in the middle of the continent, or at sea? ;)
turn 107:
This game went very well until 12 units flipped in a size 3 city set
on starvation that turn. This was very bad luck as the city was quite
far from Trondheim. I continued and captured Trondheim with the Great
Library. Trondheim (size 4) was left emptey two turns now and did not
flip! I will destroy the Vikings ASAP and then take on the Greeks with
knights (I have lots of money for upgrades. The Carthaginians are my
buddies. Kemal is dark blue. I need to capture the Greeks before he
can do his shipping-trick...

turn 126
This game turned out a drama for me. I had two flips in which I lost a
total of 7 legions, 6 horses and 1 spear. Also a flipped city was
captured by the Carthaginians before I could reach it.
Next to that I did not get a Leader while I had so many elites running
around, winning battles. I got fucked by the RNG on this part. Also
the Vikings were very weak I could have taken them out much arlier... :(
Well, now I have a corrupt empire, only 8 horses to upgrade and am
like 6 or 7 techs behind Kemal who has taken all the wonders from the
zulus. He is steamrolling over the zulus very, very fast. Kemal has
the Pyramids.
The scenario is clear; he will upgrade his knights and sail over when
he is able to, knowing I am behind and do not have the FP (no borders
expanding in former Scandinavia).
I have 1000 gold and 8 horses and 10 legions/medinfs. A lot of
units are elite. The plan is to upgrade horses and attack the
Greeks (Chivalry in 4 turns) and hope on a leader. I cannot do
anything else I think. I think I have already lost this game... :(

[hmm] This doesn't seem lost. Without a leader and no FP build going you are reliant on a leader very soon, but it still seems worth playing...
...having said that, Kemal has proven his ability to send over the troops when it will hurt the most. :(
This is not over at all, keep at it man !
A good way to check against a sea invasion is to spend the money to investigate his core coastal cities for build orders at regular intervals.
Knowing Kemal I doubt he will make a move before Navigation, since you are not even at Chivalry thats quite far away.
If you are ready for a sea invasion it makes it much more difficult for him, place units on all mountains or hills near your empire and strike him when he lands. Build a navy to outpost and hit him preventively when he is at sea.
I would take an ROP with Carth and China and put units at the landneck to check for land invasion. Also dont leave your core empty thats just an invitation ;)
Then regroup and hit greece with Knights, that huge mountain range between you and Scandinavia is worthless anyways...
You can make it *real* hard for him to take you out and who knows that leader might come any minute !
