you have probably seen my very bleak first glimpse of the map here:

well, I took a risk and moved the worker down and right along the river, thinking that a move to the coast of the (?)lake might be a good idea for a (later on) tax-strong city, if it cannot be a big producer. The game coming into view then made the decision easy: move south, young settler, move south... and voila:

now this looks a lot better: the game in the first 9 will stay in the woods (don't you love ready-mined bonus grass ;)) until I have the two bonus grass mined and ready. Then, I may cut the forest to speed growth - unless I find a suitable spot for a settler factory elsewhere.

this game has gotten.... interesting real fast: I can block germany on a land bridge with horses. I settle, they promptly attack. The city is lost to a 1 HP archer (I attacked witha warrior) killing a full health Spear forttified in the town.

At least I can save my no 3 city by wasting 4 warriors oin two archers - one of which survived but retreats at 2 HP.

Cost some ruching, so my towns now are small :(

OK, I survived the German onslaught. The Swordsmen I built I then put to use int he west - the Aztecs are down to one city and so are the Japanese. Now, the peace treaty has run its 20 and this 'happened':

I guess I will let them live for 20 more :D.....

I bought Republic and revolted, being religious, I lead Sir Eric in both Construction and Currency along with the gov tech......

as you can see I am blocking Germany - and both land bridges are actually closed all the way with units - and France is also stuck. Germany will soon lose a few border towns :D

a while ago, Sir Eric of the backwards Chinese accepted an alliance vs me witht he Japanese (I was beating them up at that time). Baaad mistake - he was about to launcha war on India when I bought Korea against him! They are tech leader at the moment, and quite strong :D

if I get a leader soon I will nto complete the FP close to my core, but rather rush it in the area of Pithom - second care there should grow fast then. As can be seen from the WM, nobody is pressing the Japanese in their west, and there is lots of jungle there. Admittedly, only a relatively narrow landbridge, but still better than a too-close-in FP.

Thanks! Looks like Sir Eric is doing quite well for his first ever emperor game! He is not that far behind in tech. Korea shouldn't hurt him that much: they have to travel through India to get to him.

this one should be won:

Sir Eric has trouble with the Indians and Korea, Korea just allied with me agains thte Germans, giving me Feudalism cheap (240 Gold, makes me even in tech) and an excuse to trigger my GA, then signs India in against Germany, then made peace with germany [lol]

I still block Germany and France from the rest :D
