ASAP with the caveat that I'll wait a week until it goes on sale at Best Buy.

Obviously. No question about it.

i voted only when i know it has a clear advatage above PTW. translate that into: Only if i know it isnt the bugfest PTW was when it hit the market.

The fact i got up really early on a saturday to buy PTW and it turned out I couldnt patch it still pisses me of. (Yes, I carry grudges for a looooong time)

i used to love the WW2 and Rome scenarios in Civ2, so i think it'll be worth it for the new sceanrios. I'm interested in seeing the new civ traits as well.

I think I'll buy it. I still got the idea that I've got to be compensated for the purchase of PTW though.

Just can't avoid it.

Bare with Matrix: he is a beta tester and obviously really into it ;) Maybe he should ask this question @CFC, where people are -slightly- less fanatical then here :)

Well, I was interested in this audience because if a lot aren't sure yet that would split this group in two. But I'm glad to see that probably won't happen. :)

Mind you, we've all been set up: Conquests will contain everything PTW has. http://www.straland.com/images/smilies/undecided.gif

I want everyone to stop and think about something for a second. I paid about $20US for PTW. I recently purchased a second copy so my wife and I could play together w/o having to do the CD shuffle. So I've got 40 invested in PTW. I would estimate that my wife and I have spend upwards of 500 hours playing PTW. If you include the initial ($40US) cost of Civ3, you are looking at .16 per hour if I stop playing Civ today (not gonna happen). There is NOTHING you can do for entertainment that is that cheap, at least "multimedia" style entertainment (movies MMRPG's console video games, etc). I considered Final Fantasy X a good value because my wife and I played it for 50 hours, I paid 50 bucks for it and sold it back for 22. That's 100 hours of playtime for 28 bucks. Or about twice the cost of what I've gotten out of Civ SO FAR.

I don't mind that it has everything PTW had. Heck, I can go out and buy Civ2 superduper test of time gold muliplayer clean your kitchen and scrub your floors for 5 bucks. Does that mean I was ripped off when I paid 50 (or whatever I paid for it) for Civ2? Nah, because it was worth it at the time.

Just like PTW :D

So is conquests gonna have everything PTW has? including MP? If so, I can just give my PTW copy to a friend (he already has my normal CivIII CD) and keep conquests for myself, that way, we can play PBEM [evil]...and kick his butt at it..mwahahahahaha!!! [evil] ..ooohh...went drinking with my buds a couple of hours ago.. I'm using the [evil] thingy way too much

Agree, PTW sure as hell was worth the money I was ripped off by Fame Music. I
paid a location bonus on my PTW CD because the store is on the "Kalverstraat"
in Amsterdam. I paid € 36,95 for my CD.... [eek]

Yes, ASAP, as I do not have PTW, and have a decent urge to be defeated by (more or less) every member of these fora :D (hehe)

With PTW I went for the secret link mentioned above (and looking at all those patches I'm glad I did), so Conquests will definitely be a legitimate purchase! Very happy that it contains PTW already (hence the purchase ;)), although I do hope there will be lot of new thingies to discover apart from what we've seen in the previews.

I doubt I'll buy it. I no longer play single player games very often, and do not really have the time to start any new PBEMs that might incorporate the new civs if that is even possible. Given the puniness of my dial-up connection and the instability of my PC, MP isn't really an option either so I have little to gain by purchasing the thing.

Yes, I'll buy it. I just hope it isn't as buggy as PTW when it came out...
