Due to increase in moderation effort here at CDZ, the admin team unanimously decided to break with the outstanding April's Fool tradition we have here at CDZ. We are very sorry.

Sorry, I'll try to refrain myself from spamming this forum even more...

But but but... how can we keep in touch with you otherwise, now that you have terminated your Facebook account?

Yes, well, yea...I shouldn't've shouted so loudly from the Dutch-metaphorical church tower.

No, I said I would, but the alternative, seen.is, seems just as bad. But then again, that might just be Facebook propaganda. Anyway, as can be expected, no one shifts to the other side anyway. And honestly, I wouldn't know how to solve this problem from a political point of view. Forcing Google, Microsoft, Facebook and such to increase their privacy regulations more and fine them if they don't. Neelie Kroes has done that already in the past, luckily, but it's not going far enough by far.

It's really easy:

1. use Ghostery
2. don't post anything you don't want to bite you in the ass on an open webpage
3. don't post anything you don't want other people to make money off on an open webpage

This has been true for years, but where it once was "the local townsquare", or "the local newsletter", "your classroom" or "without drawn curtains", people think internet is anonymous, or private, or whatever. Sure, your pictures and stories are private, but since they weren't private if you published them in the local newspaper or forgot them in the train or w/e, they aren't private when you post them on SOMEONE ELSE'S WEBSITE.

What's bothering me a lot more is all the tracking that's going on that you don't see. That FB is going to use your stuff for commerce isn't even in fine print, it's in very big letters. What you don't see is how every website is using all kinds of data gathering. Companies you've never heard of are making money by selling stuff you don't even know about yourself. That's weird.
