There`s been a mjor update on the GMR site with some interesting features, notice a check for save file bloating, hopefully this will work out:

Giant Multiplayer Robot
In addition to today being the 1 year anniversary of the launch of GMR, we're rolling out a major new update that includes several exciting new features! Read on for the complete list:

Community
- A complete list of GMR players is now available under the Community page of the GMR website. This list is sortable by one of several player statistics including total games, turns, skips, average turn time, and the new Points.
- You may now click on any player’s avatar to view their GMR player profile. This will show several pieces of information about how they’re participating in GMR including a complete list of their current games and the last 50 turns they submitted.
- You may now send private messages to one or more players on GMR. Click on the new message notification icon next to your avatar in the top-right of the website to view and send new messages.
- The latest turns submitted by anyone across GMR are now displayed in a tab under Community, letting you see who’s been playing recently.

Games
- All games are now publicly visible to anyone, including game details, comments, and recent turns. However, to join a game or make any changes concerning it you will need to already be in the game or be invited to it as usual.
- The layout game details page has been updated to include sub-areas for Details, Comments, and Recent Turns. This cleans up the long, scrolling content that was present before and allows you to more quickly access what you’re looking for.
- The last 50 turns submitted for a game are now listed in a sub-area of the game’s detail page, allowing you to see how frequently turns are being made on the game and gain an idea of its progression.
- You may now toggle password encryption for games you’re playing in on an individual basis. This will allow real life friends to disable the encryption GMR enforces on their game passwords when the save is downloaded by another player, making it possible to easily play a GMR game as an actual Hot Seat game for several turns when you’re together and then submit back to GMR for when you’re apart.
- A check has been added to both the GMR client and website when submitting a turn that will attempt to recognize when a save file for a game is significantly larger than it was before the turn was played and will warn the player to attempt replaying the turn. This is in an effort to combat the save file “bloating” bug present in Civ V.

The major issue I've encountered with GMR is that sometimes it doesn't find the savegame. I think they've fixed that, I haven't encountered that bug since the update that re-enabled "automatic shutdown" of the game. Sometimes I can't log in, but they're quick with posting status updates on Facebook. All in all I think it's a good program, something worthy of inclusion in the game itself. Actually, it's a lot better than the game, I'm not sure civ5 is worthy of GMR.
