You can authorize the cup manager to auto arrange the friendlies. It works great.

He's not dead yet. I have a 38-year old defender who had 3-week injury and he finally recovered yesterday or today after about 2 months. I think, they stay dead only after 40. It sitll has a chance every health update, just lower than regular.
