It took 7 weeks from order to delivery (that is, from the order form leaving my hands, not the museum), but today I received my new laptop for museum work.

DELL Precision M4500
Win 7 Pro x64
Intel i7 Q840 @1.87GHz
8 GB RAM
500 GB HDD
NVIDEA Quadro FX 1800M

oh how I love 1920x1080!

My work computer is a Dell Precision M90. It's getting long in the tooth, the battery ain't worth shit (never was due to the lack of gfx switching + T7600 processor), and it's very heavy carrying thru airports. But it gets the job done and the build quality is good as it has lasted over 4 years.

My work computer takes from 12 to 30 minutes to boot up and word crashes if I type at my normal speed because it can't keep up.

I'd say you'd be better of using a typewriter in this case.
