Steam Xmas sales have started. If you see a good deal, post it here.

Ones I like:

TokiTori (€ 1.12)
Brilliant puzzler, sort of Lemmings like. Starts of real easy but the further you get, the more you'll be wrecking your brain. For 1.12 euro you can't go wrong. There's a demo if you wanna try it out 1st/

Torchlight (€ 3.99)
I can be very short about it. It's a very good Diablo clone made by the some of the original Diablo (II) crew. If you like Diablo, you really can't go wrong here. If you hate diablo: skip this one. :)

I bought Battlefield: Bad Company 2 some days ago. I've put quite some time in Battlefield 2, and half of my team are playing this anyway. Speaking of which: if Left 4 Dead 2 is on discount again: buy it. It's the best coop FPS there is. Oh, and there's zombies.

Thought about buying L4D2 but the coop aspect is what kept me from buying. I fear I'll spent more time looking for a group than playing.

Online matchmaking is pretty good actually.

ah, I thought you needed to bring your own team.

That's more fun, obviously. But it's not required. I play with random people more often, because if there are enough people online it's more likely that we're playing tf2.

I see Tropico3 is on sale today. I have that one with deodorant. It's very funny, but it lacks depth.

picked up greed corp for $2.50 today. For that price, I can't go wrong!

You do realise that the programmers I hired for CT manager have been part of the coding team for this game ?????

And I'm not kidding!

From what I hear, you've hired someone who's very talented. I've been looking forward to this one for a while :)

Oh dear, and these sales go on until Jan 2. I must stop looking.

Hegemony: Philip of Macedon $3, done :)

I'd also jump on Left for Dead 2, but I don't know if I'd ever get the chance to play since it's not kid appropriate.

Very curious how Hegemony is, reviews weren't that good and that's what kept me from buying it.

How are zombies not kid appropriate? You've got to prepare your offspring for the zombie apocalypse. I think there's an option to turn gore off. Oh, and there's a free demo.

Ok, ok, LfD2 and the zombies are just fine for 7 year old boys to see rushing towards them on a computer screen. Do you babysit? Would you like to sit with them till they fell asleep at 3AM on a Tuesday? :p

btw, I see Furiey and ProPain have shatter. It's only $2.50 right now, is it any good?

Shatter is good old break out with a twist. It's an ok game but I wouldn't pay more than 2.50 for it. Very kid suitable but I find some levels pretty challenging.

Then again, maybe kids have better reflexes than I do and will cruise through those levels thinking the game is too easy.

Europa Universalis (5€ )
This is a nice and deep strategy game and at 5 euro it's really cheap. Biggest problem with EU III is the manual: it fails to explain how the game works resulting in frustration for EU noobs (like myself when I bought it)

When you invest some time and get the hang of it, it really is a nice game. Well worth the 5 euro.

Yeah, Shatter is a modern breakout game. Too quick at times for my ageing reflexes! Worth it on sale, I wouldn't play full price.

I had been wondering about EU III and Hegemony, but after playing Plants v Zombies to the early hours I must try and resist...

I bought Left4Dead for £7.50. :D After having missed a previous sale of £3.25. http://straland.com/images/smilies/cringe.gif

A quick strategy note for these steam sales: Last year, on the last day, everything went on sale again. Not sure they'll do it again, but if you miss your price, you may want to wait till the last day to see if it comes back.

Re EUIII: I've bought HoI2 but could never really spend enough time on it. For $5, I probably can't go wrong, but I've read that it really needs "Heir to the Throne", which is...

only $5 too. Hmm, credit card getting warmer....

PvZ is actually perfect for an iPad or iPhone/iTouch, also works really well on a netbook. This makes it one of my preferred traveling games (Peggle is perfect on iPhone/iTouch too)

Well, if you let me train them for the zombie apocalypse... ;)

I thought that EU III sale was for the complete edition, including both expansions.

Bought PvZ (Protoss vs Zerg ;) ) and I really like it. damnit, never thought I'd say that about a popcap game :D

It's horrendously addictive. Damn tower defense games are ruining my life :)
