Turn 155

Aggie met the other AI before me but this will be a long game.

I made the switch to republic and drew the spectacular 7 turns of anarchy. Had to run some cities in disroder so i would not lose population. ;)

I will have a fairly well placed FP in a couple turns and will get a pretty good jump in production.

Well once my FP went on line I lead in 8 catagories in the demographics. I usually figure I have won the game when I lead in 9 catagories. However, this game is far from won since it is a long time before we have ocean passage available.

Hmm, that gap seems crossable with galleys, is it not? Maybe with the Great Lighthouse?

Killer made the map so we would need to be at least to Astronomy with the lighthouse to have safe passage to neighbors and ocean travel to to get to the civs in the north. [eek]

I'm starting to get the upper hand in this game. I recently sold medicine to Spain and no one else has close to the resources to buy the tech from them (and they paid me more than 4000 gold, mix cash and GPT). I'm plowing through to TOE and I doubt anyone has a chance to stop me getting those two free techs. ;) I have take an Island from the Babs to give me an base to launch future attacks against Spain, England, Japan and Babs. I'm starting to accumulate cavs and pretty much have a lock on my territory.

Aggie must be trailing, militarily and tech wise anyway. :)

Well aggie surprised me and got electrity just before me and therefore got medicine from Spain. So here is the race for TOE, at 100% I can get it in 4, hope he can't. I want TOE to put the screws on, specially since he just got frisky with the Babs and now I can't get into the fight since I have to supply him coal but things are going pretty well so we will se what happens when I start island hopping.

Finished up TOE and went for electronics. This has allowed me to then get industrialization first and get some factories going on line. My primary 2 island are completly improved with rails now and will get a few hospitals on line before too long so that I can really crank some units. The AI are weak and I'm building some navel routes and some escorts to provide some quick attacks once I get a little further along. Spain appears to be the only civ with much chance of standing up to an assault at this point.

Unfortunately my willingness to help aggie when we discovered a map imbalance only prolonged the inevitable. Aggie without coal was at such a disadvantage he would not have been able to continue, so I donated coal to him. So, in the future I won't be making concessions due to map conditions since it's not likely to help either player in the long run.

It would have been ok, but the coal deal implied more:
- we coulds not be at war
- CB couldn't trade the coal
- next imbalance would be questionable again. So when CB didn't have coal things just added up and we both decided to quit.
