Really, in cased you had missed it: there's a new version of Civilization around and those bastards errrr I mean esteemed members from the US and Canada are already playing it!

For those who can't wait and love living on the edge, apparently this (http://gamesync.net/2009/10/28/how-to-access-borderlands-on-steam-now/) works...

Yes, I keep getting notified by steam that my "friends" are playing it - Grrrr.

Worth firing up steam today even if you can't play though as it will download the zero day patch in preparation for release.

I noticed you were repeatedly playing it!

Crashed twice in 2 games but made it a long ways through. I dont think the AI knows how to build units; I have knights/cats/pikes and they are only bringing warriors and archers on immortal! The highest unit I have seen is a legion.

Anybody tried that procy workaround?

Don't think I'll take the risk, I don't have time to play untill thursday evening anyway.

It seems to be anytime I exit leader cinematics. I guess I'll just restart another game altogether.

No, not tried it. Tempting though it is I really haven't got the time until the weekend either.

Is it just a little buggy or rather buggy?

Beorn

Was awful-buggy, I updated my drivers across the board and now it's fine and fun

It crashes, not all the time but every 3-4 hours in my case. Memory is enough, something just happens and it crashes. Apparently, nobody knows what. I'm submitting the memory dump reports to steam so they can figure it out.

No buggieness or crashes with mine. I've been playing for about 7 hours, with (1) 4 hour session and (1) 3 hours. Only thing I noticed was that running in DX9 mode was a lot smoother than DX10-11 mode.

I read on their support forum that they have issues with Nvidia cards, and I have a GeForce 9800. Crap. I'll try the DX9 tip and see how that goes, thanks.

Didn't they have Nvidia problems as well when Civ IV was released?

And ATI problems ;)

I have an ATI DX11 card so it will be interesting how that goes.

I have quite an old ATI card, and the demo ran quite OK (some graphics settings at medium though). Only, all the leaders were negroid and I am fairly certain that Bismarck, Alexander and Augustus Ceasar were all caucasian.

That's probably because these kind of textures aren't supported by your graphics card. Some graphics engines have the option to use older directx versions (such as dx8.1). This could solve your problem if this is possible in civ5.

It's not. Only dx9, 10 and 11 are options...

Is not that about a half of all video cards in the world?

Wow... A whole series of CIV (IV) came and went without me playing even one turn of it. Seems like ages ago that I was addicted to this franchise.

You're a lucky man Aggie! Although I didn't play civ IV that much either, I did spend quite some time on other games like WoW
