Here is my start:

Unfortunatly, I'm 2 techs away from AH. I'll probably explore a bit before settling my second city, I'm not sure I like what I see in the north.

Oooo... the first spoiler up and running:). Are you going to use the worker as well for some early exploration?

A bit. The only thing they can do rigt now is mine. I have to wait for cultural expansion before that.

oh man, this is not really a luxury apparement! low on luxuries, low on easy food tiles - you'll have to make the max out of your rivers to be tech-competitive. AND you're forced to go sailing, too, being on an island..... Without any reference to other spoilers I predict this will be tough playing for you.
With reference...... well, I won't spoil anything ;)

Wow you did your exploring quickly:). And you're on an island i never would have guessed;)

And i don't know what's low about the luxs killer, i see fur, ivory, gems and incense not to mention 3 varieties of sea food, plus being on an island means minimal time spent building defense. And if iirc Portgual produces double speed settlers and workers (imperial/expansive)

Well I do have an idle Worker and I decided I wanted a real dotmap before settling. Therefore, 2 units with 2 movement get the work done quickly.

Although given my start I would have picked a work boat over a worker.

On the plus side, I have marble. That is a first in all the pitboss I have played. Hurray!

Just a quick update:

I have met BCLG (in blue) and Stapel (in white). They are both on a large landmass west and south form my island. They both agreed to a peace deal with a 10 turn war notice.

Right now I'm doing trying to go on judaism as nobody found it yet! I should have it in 4 turns.
After that Iron working is probably the way to go, it will allow me to finaly mine those gems covered by jungle.

Finaly the demographics don't loog too bad. Unfortunatly it doesn't look to good either especialy pop wise.

We are well into the the game. Things are going smoothly for me.
- I got +1 movement for circunmnavigation.
-I have most of the world mapped.

It has been decision time for me. How should I try to win this game? I have decided to try to grab a culture win. (The other option would have been to try to go after stapel since he must no have mutch infrastructure after his war with BC)
- I have already secured peace deals with all my opponents. 25 turns with Matrix.
- I already have 2 religion holly cities.
- I was the first to get to music (great artist) and should have no problem getting the Sixteen Chapel (+5cpt for state religiion buildings and +2cpt for specialists)

In the next few turns:
- Get some military in order to prevent a war. (Right now, event with a 10 turn warning, I'm vulnerable)
- Aim to get the Siral Minaret (+2gpt per state religion building)

The general stategy will be to:
- Lay low and wait as mutch as possible before gating the second city into culture. Try to get as mutch great artist as possible and use them for the third city.

Here are some pictures.

So I'm still going for that cultural victory.

I doubt I'll make it under cover since both Grahamiam and Stapel have huge spy ratings compared to mine. Therefore, if I make it, they would have had to not look at the victory screen or not count my great artist number correctly.

Here are my 3 tries.

So when opporto its 50k in max 49 turns, I should have enough Great Artist to boost Guimaraes with all the GA I will have. (5 are already done)

The problem is that Stapel can squash me anytime (we have a 10 turn peace deal). He is so ahead in tech and production I doubt I can do anything. I'm still doing military in every other cities.
Stapel may also be able to win with a space race before I win with culture.

Compared to last time, I have not been going 100% science. Therefore, I'm able to have some military units not too out of date.

Here is an idea of the tech situation.

A war had broken up agaist Stapel on one side and Gaham, Matrix and Furiey on the other side. After about 10 turns and a few city takeover, they all made peace yesterday.

Needless to say that I was quite happy with a "everybody at war except me" situation.

All diplomatic relations are quiet on my side for the moment. Nobody approached me about the situation. I guess keeping a low profile is better for me at the moment than trying to force longer peace deals.

Maybe you should slow down with the culture in lisbon, that way delay it a little so it doesn't advertise it so much because when it does hit 50k everyone will notice.

If my opponents keep their word, this game will end in 9 turns. I have a 10 turn war declaration warning deal against Stapel, Furiey, Matrix and Furiey.

Therefore;
A) I have a Great Artist next turn (66% chance). In 3 turns, I have a city at 26k another one at 46k, I use my 7 GA and win.
B) I dont have a GA next turn (33%). I have to wait 9 turns to reach 50k. The other city will be at about 28k. I use my 6 GA on that city and win
C) My oponenent don't respect the deal and attack me.
