So I'm playing William of Orange of the Mongols (Creative, Financial, Keshik)

against SocralYnnek of the Native Americans (Charismatic, Imperialist, Dog Soldier)

Here is my starting position:

I immediately choose Animal Husbandry as a tech so I can build those Keshik. No luck, no horses in sight. I also pick up fishing (with the financial trait, those clams give me 3 gold), archery (not to be a sitting duck against those dog soldiers) and mining.

I also build to fishing boats, 1 archer and 1 scout (in retrospect, I should have build a second archer).

Finlay I invest in a +1 pop in my capital.

We are 8 turns into the game, we both found each other's borders. We are also close to each other. getting those horses will not be easy. Fortunately those clams can get me food and cash to get an early thech lead.

Meanwhile the priority is to chop down a barrack and get archers to prevent an early dog soldier rush.

Unless you want to make it a 1cc it seems you're pretty deep in the shit anyway. You'll have to go full military to keep him from rushing you with his UU and in the mean while he can easily block your settlers because you're on a land tongue. Pity.

Looks like he is aware of it and he's trying to make it happen.

He's got a settler going for my only exit. Fortunately, the only protection is 1 dog warrior. I have my 4 archers going that way. I just can't let that happen!

Intervention failled.

I have very little hope since Ynnek has some place to expand and I have no units treathen him. (no coper, Iron or horses)

My longshot is to get Machinery soon, found a city on iron by boat (maybe not noticed) get a stack of Xbows and make some kind of suprise attack.

You got a tough deal with the resources. Good luck with getting the crossbows they are your only chance from what i can see

wow, you really got fucked with regards to resources.[xx(] And, tbh, if you live to crossbows, then lynnek must be smoking something very powerful.

Well he does not have any ressources either. He built his city to limit my access to horses, but he sill needs another city to gain access to Iron or Coper.

Update to state again that things are not going very well.

I had founded high hopes to find some horses or iron or at least coper on that small island. Unfortunatly it is empty. The alternative is to go build a city close to the Iron on the south of Ynnek's capital and hope it will remain unseen for a couple turns. Unfortunatly my trait is an handicap here since I will expand culturaly in 10 turns and therefore, he will see my border in his cultural border.

Maybe I should go further west! But I desperately need Iron!

Anybody knows how many Irons there are in these maps?

I have a question.

Is the coastal trade network allowed to pass Ice tiles?

I'm fairly certain it's a no.

I'm fairly certain it's a no.

That is indeed what I found out at CFC.

I also found out that I could build a fort East of the beavers and link it wit a road the city would be linked. But I'm still 5 turns to mathematics to build a fort!

I'll probably build a city on the island, get my worker on the continent to build the road and stuff, and build a settler from my new founded city.

So the plan failled and I loss the game. (that was no suprise at my last update)

Could I have won (of pushed it to the limit) if:

- Building a city on the horse hill first?
Probably would have worked, but I was affraid of a early dog soldier rush so I was focussing on defense.

- Not going for machinery. Well, that is a no brainer. The plan was rather wrecless. Going for longbowman or construction first would have probably allowed me to get to the end of the 120 turns. I wasted 15 turns for a useless tech. I also had a mutch higher research rate. I would have gotten catapults about 10 turns earlier than Ynneck.

Anyways good game played at a good speed.

I'd be ready for a #2.
