I have a Norwegian friend living here, and she's always amazed by the fact that the first day of snow causes so much traffic accidents every year. "Don't you know that snow is slippery? Do you consistently forget that fact every year?!" [lol]

But I like snow! We usually have a few days of snow every year. Not that often with Christmas, though. [sad] Climate is too temperate...

drove to work...and got sent home. Good thing I went...anyone who didnt show up got charged an hour of leave since we were not closed till an hour after work started. Cant wait for the drama tomorrow when "the victim" finds out it cost her leave. I may go in early so I don't miss a minute of it.

Same thing with the kids, got to day care and radio announced schools closed.

yesterday they predicted ZERO frozen crap. 10pm they said less than a 1/2 inch. 6am...oh maybe an inch. 7am....2 to 4 with locally up to 6. For an area which does not see freezing weather often( maybe 3 to 5 times a year) and snow maybe every 10 to 20 years...this was the 3rd most snow ever. We went from the worse hurricane hit here in 40 years this summer to the most snow in 50 years. Its so wrong to have orange trees and citrus trees covered in snow...

Did I mention it was 73 a day ago...and I was out in shorts.

After living in Alaska for a few years I am now always amazed at what causes closings around here. The slightest little icing and all of the DFW metroplex has a conniption.

Years ago collegues of mine where locked for 2 days on Atlanta airport because of less than an inch of snow. That same year a 16 year old hotel aide drove me 10 miles in a small truck to the airport during a developing blizzard in Rochester, NY as a matter of routine. Pretty much a matter how much sneaux you experience regulary imo.

And if you have suitable tires on your car.

Driving on bald tires in snow is a lot of fun. I recommend it!
I love sneaux because it makes people have to be productive.

There was an ice rain lockdown of hundreds of thousands people for 1-3 months up here, a few years back. They were expecting a mini baby boom, but births only increased slightly - guess they all stocked contraceptives x)

Icy roads here in my part of Texas. Something tells me that being reproductive won't be a problem I'll have.

And now the ice is gone. It was 70F here over the weekend, snow and ice on Tuesday, and projecting 70F again this coming weekend. Crazy

It has been crazy here at houston for the past 10 days or so. Temperature jumping from +25-28C to +2C and back almost every day. For example, today in the morning at around 9am, I had to turn AC on since it were sunny and humid at about 80F (+24-26C) on the outside (same inside) but now, I need to turn on the heating since it is 45F (about +6C) outside and inside it dropped down to less than 70F. Tomorrow is goin to be quite chilly at about 55F at the highest mark and raining. That weather drives me nuts here.
