I just noticed a first for PBEM

i am playing 2nd rung in a 1 on 1. The 1st player is human, the rest after me are AI. ie player order:

Player1
Me
ai1
ai2
ai3
ai4

When i open the turn it says 3400BC. I pop a hut full of yokels. i click end of turn. then i see the yokels attack me, the turn goes to 3350BC and then i get the prompt to sav. I have never seen a barb or AI move in PBEM before.

Is this the way its always been for the last human player in the turn...if so i want last more often.

yeah, but you get second shout on the trade deals (all AI deals are calculated at the end of your turn too), so it's a trade off (pun intended).

Ive definitely seen both - but ill have to check the order when i get home.

by the way prettyvacant...your email last night about the digger760PBEM, were you implying that you could play 1.21? we can all play 1.14 or 1.21, but we are not sure if you can. We will got to 1.21 if you can

hm,
so should their be a replay function for combat/movement report regarding the inbetween turn
or is it just fair to leave things as are for the reasons anarres stated?

well, I've been playing second player mostly, and seeing AI movement and combats is nice but not a game winner. Having trade deals first AND having deals ending first are much better perks so being up 1st is a slight advantage imo.

I tried putting human players in 1st and 5th slot so both players would have some AI movement to see and some trade deals first but unfortunately the game handles all human players first independently of their 'game slot'

Did you also know that if player 1 gets am MA agianst player 2 then player 2 will get to go before the AI in question.

If player 2 gets an MA against player 1 then the AI gets to strike before player 1 gets their next go.

Not as good as the trade bonus player 1 gets, but player 2 isn't as sucky as first thought.

I'm wondering in what PBEM you figured that out....

OK, here's another PBEM bug (version 1.21UK) new to me:

I am player2 in a 1 on 1. If i set a unit on goto, the unit moves straight away and then again at the end of the turn (with the AI moves) thus doubling the movement for an automove in the first turn. On subsequent turns i think they move at the end. Has anybody else seen this?

I've seen this, but the double move isnt actually a double move cause you'll lose that move the turn the unit reaches it's destination. Auto moves for the next turn are done in upkeep end of actual turn. Very strange and dangerous: workers, scouts and settler can end up next to barb/enemy and you can't do a thing about it next turn. Don't use it.

Yep, it is a fecker. You can get a unit to a city 2 moves away in 1 turn. Great for defending sudden human attacks.

I lost a settler in ddpp because it automoved and I was last in line. Pretty stupid. iirc workers end their activities also during the turnover, which can be annoying. I calculated the chopping of some forest to end the turn after I built something, but it was finished just before, making all resulting shields useless :(

Yeah, you have to remember that workers complete at the end of the turn when it says they have 2 turns left!

It also fucks up the timing of chopping forests, I hate that. (I often forget... and waste 10 shields.)

I've had to control my self real hard to not throw the comp out of the windows on several occasions too. I hate it when my 10 shields go to waste.

He just replied in similar words to you in another thread! Maybe we should see if we can get a quantum discount on the valium somewhere :D

further to the last human player seeing the AI moves. In my current challenge match against Sir Eric i am the last human player...but i also see Sir Eric's moves..in the "AI" turn and Sir Eric moves before me??? in the turn

I wonder what would happen if i moved my galley to the same square that he moved his two...would that cause an unintentional war...who declares the war...i think it would be Sir Eric, because his galley would be moving into the square that i occupied, or so it would appear to me. If nobody has seen this before then i might have to investigate it further.

I have seen it before indeed when your opponents unit is on "auto-move".
If you move where he is supposed to go, the auto-move is cancelled and his unit will "wait for orders" on his turn.

ok, looked up the old sav files of the game vs Sir Eric i was referring to:

i checked were his galley moved, i replayed the turn and was ablt to put a galley in that spot, Result-> Sir Erics galley did not move. A few turns later when his galley was near my territory, i did not see it move, but the gally had move when i loaded the next turn, so it must have changed from auto move to manual.
