The expansionist Russian lands look like this, after a rocky, barb plagued start.

Hut luck was the worst ever - on the bright side though, my knowledge of lands unexplored by the AI plus 60 gold did net me writing, eventually, and I parlayed that into three other techs by trading.

As you can see, the placement of my two southern cities is somewhat cramped, but my southernomst city had to be placed where it was before suffering premature settler death at the hands of a barb horsie. The other spot was the only remaining sensible place to put a settler - no ICS was intended.

Being behind in tech usually means you have to go to war, and I have, After initial success, claiming the only Persian source of iron, I ran into this:

I suspect I'll have to make peace now - I was just one archer short of taking Arbela !

Turn 88 - but I have no idea what year it is. I think they made an archer army because there were no wonders to rush ...... unfortunately :D Let's hope they go for the injured archer instead of the town.

Turn 88 is about 800BC. That's damn early for an army!

I don't know - I've built the Pyramids with a GL pre-2500BC at least twice. And there were no wonders available.

This game is moving good and fast even despite the time difference - we're at turn 158 now. CB has a major advantage as he owns the Great Library, and will therefore likely be flush with cash. My own economy will be slow to improve as my new FP core still consists of mostly small cities.

Here are my lands (the capital is in Moscow, the FP was leaderrushed in Tarsus in turn 150 or so):

When I start fighting CB I'll need at least the Americans on my side, I think. Preferably at least one of the other AIs too.
