Lousiest. Startpost. Ever.

I'm in.

socralynnek
18-04-2007, 10:49
I'm in.

Start should, as always be, after match 7.

So, which format do we use?

-League with KO-rounds afterward
-double league stage with a few KO-rounds
-swiss system
-something even more fancy

Kemal
18-04-2007, 10:52
I'm joining too. Swiss system of last season worked pretty well, but it seems more of a hassle to organize.

I don't really have a preference though, so I'll just go with the flow.

I am in but I think I will have a "team-sitter" for three weeks in May so he needs to be informed via HT-mail (on my account) and will not be able to login at every convenient moment.
And I still have to ask him.

I liked last years setup, I still got screwed so I agree it does not really matter how we do it.

And it was the worst startpost in my recollection.

And where is the sign-up thread?

Does that mean we're doing the Swiss system?

Kemal
01-05-2007, 21:46
@Sibul: sure, anyone can join!

I'm thinking it will be the swiss system again yes, socralynnek did a very good job with that last year and I think everyone enjoyed the format.

Kemal
02-05-2007, 11:04
A small update on Snaken's status for the cup: I'd love to join in again, but I have to warn in advance that I probably won't be able to play the last game on the final wednesday. On that day, my coach - who has been with Snaken since almost day 1 - will enter the HoF and will play his final match against the same opponent he started off against 3 years ago.

Since I'm not playing for medals this year I'm sure, I hope this will not be a problem...

socralynnek
02-05-2007, 11:55
So, OK, guys.

I have some time in the next few weeks, so I think I can manage it again if it should be Swiss system (if everyone is fine with that)

Let's say, if no one objects in the next 24 hours, we are doing a Swiss system and I am managing it (at least for the first weeks, but as I am using a program, I could easily hand over to someone)

We'd need to discuss how to handle WOs, but I'd open a thread for such discussions tomorrow or so.

Tubby Rower
02-05-2007, 12:22
so should we start a signup thread to see who wants to join?

I supposse the "draws" will at the hattrick forum as well?

socralynnek

I will post the draw to your account.
In the Hattrick Federation, I will post the matches too and probably in the forum for the CDZ Youth league.

socralynnek
08-05-2007, 12:23
I have got a question.

This time, I don't wanna count home and away games. The program I am using can set home and away according to how many home games one had so far and can even give it to the one with lowest rating if the othger criterions tie.

That's fine.

The remaining questions is how to handle WOs.

I see two possibilities:

- Count it as forfeit (bye for the other) which would mean that it doesn't count towards home and away and means with this program that the non-walkover team wins 3 points with the game counted as 0-0 for goal difference.

- Set it at 0-5 with setting the WO team as home team. This means that a WO team will be punished by losing the game and losing a home game.

I will take care that no team receives two announced WO wins (for national cup or so).

What are your opinions?

By the way, is it ok if we start with two introduction rounds like last season?

Tubby Rower
08-05-2007, 12:42
I'm fine with an all away schedule so any home games are gravy. WOs are evil and should be eradicated :D

socralynnek
10-05-2007, 11:57
I have posted the matches for the first round.

socralynnek
10-05-2007, 19:57
Yeah, good that it is an even number of teams still in the cup, otherwise I would have to...I don't know what I'd done then.

Tubby Rower
10-05-2007, 20:20
so if one person loses in the cup then someone else will have to lose too.

Kemal
12-05-2007, 13:43
As a headsup to the organization, I wanted to make clear I organized a different friendly than the one organized in the fixtures list because of two things:

- spartak kimski and my team sporadicaly do log in from the same IP (when I am at their place or they are here),

- as you can see, due to a freak coincidence both my IP and that of kimski have the same 5 starting numbers, which could trigger some overzealous cheat-reporters to go submitting cheat reports, which could lead to all kind of unwanted results, such as temporary closure of teams etc.

I know this probably should have been reported earlier, but that on the other hand would have polluted the draw for the fixtures in the 1st place. Btw, the same goes for matches between me and Xerxes and Xerxes and Kimski. As warned by a dutch GM, they (the GMs) tend to disapprove of matches between family members/same IPs.

I am willing to accept any consequences with regard to the result and the home/away calculations, since I'm late with reporting this anyway. :)

Ah, well, I knew the thing between kimski and xerxes from last cup.
I think, we should call it a draw and let the game count as home game for you, kemal, as you are the one who most probably will be making more money in the later stages of the cup anyway...

Looks like I might have to report a WO in the first round. FC Dibbelabbes hasn't logged in since the 5th so he hasn't had a chance to accept my friendly. So much for using the A- team in league to get off to a good start.

socralynnek
14-05-2007, 11:53

sz_matyas
15-05-2007, 19:16
Man hattrick is being harsh to me, with one forward already hurt, I lost his backup and then my emergency spare and we're still in the first half. Don't know what I'm going to do for league play, as I now don't have enough forwards or wingers (I don't expect either of these guys to be healthy as they are 35 and 18 yrs old even if it is a 1 week injury).

Tubby Rower
15-05-2007, 19:20
an 18 yo could heal before the weekend's match if you hire some doctors. The 35 yo is just gone man. Take him back by ole yeller's grave and give him the same treatment.

sz_matyas
15-05-2007, 19:47
should have said 28, not 18 (turns out his injury was 5 weeks and since he's my top winger as well as my 3rd forward it's really going to hurt). The 35 yr old is a future coach and didn't really want to play him, but injuries forced me to (his is only one week, so there is an outside shot of him healing eventually). Still shouldn't affect that ability when I finally switch at the end of the season.

Tubby Rower
17-05-2007, 12:25
I have no idea how I won this one. I guess that winger training paid off since that is how the only goal was scored. I won with only ~15% of the possession (high wretched vs very high passable midfield) [lol] quote:1747 spectators had come to Three-Mile Island this cloudy day. Meltdown started off with a 5-4-1 lineup. Starters: Barrera - Gurmann, Linehan, Palacios, Zarev, Magnusson - Filipovi#263;, Gjermandsen, Eberle, Rönnwald - Sastre Miralles.

DSE decided to use a 4-5-1 set up. They fielded: Popa - Meininger, Jansson, Donovan, Etzel - Chobot, Heiter, Paul, D#322;uba#322;a, Augustinussen - Eskerod.

DSE's Jupp Heiter was shown a yellow card after 11 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Meltdown were pushed back, and had many dangerous counterattacks. An impressive one came in the 15th minute, but Fernando Sastre Miralles narrowly missed the free kick attempt. Meltdown appeared unsure on how to play and their organization was only passable. Down the middle came Jupp Heiter, making a fantastic play that nearly had DSE take the lead in the 31st minute, but Rodrigo Barrera preserved the tie. There was a bit of a mixup on the field as Meltdown found themselves out of position and their organization level dropped to weak. 0 - 0 was the halftime score. This half belonged to DSE, who controlled the ball 83 percent of the time.

Meltdown's coach took some time during the break to go over his strategy, which raised Meltdown's organization to passable. Meltdown seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to weak. One of many good passes from Kostadin Filipovi#263; at the wing was received and skillfully taken care of by Fernando Sastre Miralles, scoring the 1 - 0 goal for Meltdown. Meltdown's Niklas Magnusson got himself booked for a foul. DSE, bringing their ball possession to 84 percent, dominated the battle.

Meltdown's top performer was clearly Steen Gjermandsen. Maximilian Gurmann turned in a dismal performance, however. Jan D#322;uba#322;a performed admirably for DSE. Sebastian Etzel turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 0.

What's bad is that Max Gurmann didn't perform up to expectations against his mother team. I bought him off of ynnek last season and he must have been chatting it up with his old friends instead of focusing on the game

socralynnek
17-05-2007, 12:41
Yeah right, the goal wasn't a normal chance.
This was a Special Event which is caused by high winging skill...

I played practically without attack as the guys there are in a bad shape cause they didn't play while I was still in the national cup.

We probably play each other, which means that you will then have 3 points over me again!

My 2nd team has two replacement midfielders for the A-squad, 4 rather weak winger trainees a defender sub and a forward sub. The rest is very very weak indeed.

I also decided not to have anyone (read A-squad players) on the bench anymore, after last weeks' injury disaster.

Funny facts from my game today, against spartak kimski :
- The player I pulled last Saturday (old system), who is already fired now (he is thinking of playing golf), was my GK today, and made a "spectacular save". Zero star of course. That's because my usual GK is injured, and I wasn't arsed to buy a replacement (crossing fingers for next league match).
- It was 3-3 late in the match. spartak eventually won 4-3, thanks to a goal from... Emmanuel Delatour, a player he bought from me a few months ago ! I realized that not so long ago. He is so far my best pull (as the sticky thread says).

Kemal
13-06-2007, 22:22
Heh, yes a remarkable coincidence since I know that she bought the player without knowing/taking into account you were the owner, i.e. via a regular transfermarket browse. I can recall you being somewhat disappointed with the transfer price at that time... ;)

At least you know he is being trained and will probably earn you some mother club money some time in the future. :)

In other news, Snaken got trounced.. again, losing badly to Meli (4-0). I've recently sold some big players and mostly have skilltrades in the midfield, maybe I can give BCLG a run for his money with regard to finishing last... [sad]

socralynnek
