FWIW, I tried this a couple of years ago (albeit an earlier version), this is kinda where my CFC nick comes from. anarres is an anarchist in 'The Dispossessed' by Usula K Le Guin. After taking this test the first time and reading the book there could be no doubt...

This thing is really hideous. Most questions are really tendentious or horribly political incorrect. It looks like some nazi tracing program. Who on earth would answer 'strongly agree' on some of those really, really, really racist questions, or on some of the outdated statements such as 'Abstract art that doesn't represent anything shouldn't be considered art at all.' ?!?

Not that I like art, but when football is an art, so is cobra.

Just for the fun then:

Economic Left/Right: -6.25
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -6.21

That score probably arises since I answered most questions with either agree/disagree instead of strongly ..., since that's rather lame with such questions.
Besides, what do I have to do with questions like 'legalize pod'? As if I'd have any choice here! I found that question on environmental issues also quite strange. But then again, as an environmental scientist, my views probably wouldn't match with any political party.

As a matter of fact, as a true communist, I can say that all communist manifesto's have an absurd, maybe even moronic stance toward environmental issues.

But that as an aside. Back on topic: I beat the dalai lama! Ha! That'll teach him!

hmm although i (if really pressed) may describe my socio-political beliefs as anarcho-syndicalist, (and i only avoid that because im fed up with all the stupid arguements it gets you into) I must admit I had thought I had become more authoritarian as i got older - but perhaps not.

And I must say that some of the questions were a bit "have you stopped beating your wife" werent they? (ie I did not agree with what appeared to be the concept underlying the question.)

I wonder if one should be so proud to have such a high anarchist score. It shows you have high ideals but also that you have a less idea about how the world actually works IMHO...

I think you have to mix those two just to get some of your ideals done... Otherwise you will reach nothing at all. We live on planet earth not on planet Utopia!

So you may call me "a constructive pragmatic semi-lefty" ;)

Well I am a Political Sciences PhD and a linguist, and I believe this questionnaire was written by what one would call "lefties", pretty sure about that.

What I liked the most were the "psychological" questions, because to imply there is a pattern between Freudian behaviour and political affinity is definitely a "progressist" or "lefty" point of view.

The one question about homosexuality was fascinating as well and could be the subject of a whole new thread...Thanks Meli for this great site !

I figured I'd be a bit more right, maybe -1 or so, because I am not an idealist when it come to human nature and don't believe in astrology etc. But I guess my strong - individual over buisness answers put me there.

As far as: "Making peace with the establishment is an important aspect of maturity."

Definitely a loaded question, but I interpreted it as saying that you make peace with where the establishment is comming from. Not necessarily that you agree with it or stop trying to change it. That you understand the establishment and more or less why it is how it is - historically, economically, sociologically speaking.

Due to some conflicting answers to many diehard rightwing answers on sex, I scored dang near wishy-washy.
(I believe that humans are sexual beings in their nature, thus can be attracted to what they will. I further believe that the correct use of that sexualness is in covenant marriage.) This belief alienates me from the groups widely known as "Right-wing nut-jobs," even though my economic policy is further to the right then Genghis Khan.

This leads me to believe that the test is not entirely valid, as I think I am 1 of 2-3 in either the 2nd or 4th quadrant of everyone that has taken this test. This really questions the validity of the test in my mind.
