Yeah just a general apology.

Finally managed to get through to the server that runs the site and it would appear that the application that runs the fishinacage.nl website had a severe memory leak :)

Had to kill the application process in the IIS as it was just about to use all the RAM and start on the swap files... It was using almost a gig of RAM [:O]

Will monitor it for the rest of the day and text Propain if it goes to shit again.

I can fix the anti-spam code or allow new posts to be made or get some work done at work.

Maybe 2 out of 3, but 3 out of 3 would be a physical impossibility and could well cause the collapse of the physical laws upon which our universe depends! And I don't like to take that sort of risk on a Thursday.

Reset the server, I'll kill fishinacage cause I dont use it anyway.

BTW the said application in fishincage is Snitz :)

[edit: killed the site. Spambots filled up the guestbook ( a whopping 30K entries) so that must have caused it]

Why do we have these kind of problems so often? Is our provider that crappy? Or is it the weird software this forum is running on?

Perhaps we should try a different approach on this kind of stuff. No more patching. Threaten to go to another provider, or actually make the shift to vBulletin.

OK System back again.

Should stay up this time.

FishInACage has serious memory leak issues and I've had to permanently stop it now.

There was 350k of free disk space on the C Drive which was mainly logs from that website, cleared out just over 2Gb of space now and restarted this website which should stay up.

Nothing to do with snitz, everything to do with the other website running from the same bloody webserver.

Sorry it took this long to sort I've been away from a computer all weekend.

It was an alternative forum for PP's friends that were Dutch I think.

It's dead now though. SpamBots absolutely raped the guestbook

response time on replying to topics is still really slow... :(

Reading topics is fine, but if I'm replying to something or sending PM's, the delay is over a minute per response, with some refusing to do something alltogether.

Good Job Mel, I tried to free up space but didnt know what to chuck without danger. Couldnt defrag becuase we lacked space. Did you defrag c:? If not that might be a good idea.
