Tiny, no AI, balanced. BC is Catherine, and I am Huayna Capac.
GO AWAY SIMON!!

I've never played a game like this, so I'm at a loss as to what I should do. Any help would be greatly appreciated [cheerl]

hmmm. build units.. lots of them and big ones

now that I can see the picture.. Getting those forests chopped would be a priority as that's a lot of hiding spots that he could use to attack the city.

Also I would scout north and build another Quencha for defense instead of a barracks.

Took your advise Tubby. I'm sure if he just happened upon a defenseless city in a 1 vs 1.....yeah.
So, I've got a Quencha going in place of the barracks, moved the other Quencha on the hill N/NE of that picture and spotted another hut.

watch for BC's qucik attack abd explore. If you can find him before he finds you...you will have a few turn advantage.

I think this is hung up somewhere. Either I've got it and don't know it, or he's forgotten??

Tubby Rower

well he doesn't civ while he's drunk, so that leaves appoximately 4 minutes a week to play. I'd send him you latest save and ask if everything is ok.

Since this is a <s>Huge</s>Tiny map, you're approximately 20 tiles from each other. You need to build up a defense as well as scout to find him. I would put a priority on the former.

Defense a building, and he must have found the post it note that Whomp left on pillow. He sent it to me :D

And I see a Simon scout in the wide open. I think I'll fancy him not finding me at the cost of a war.

That little scout I got for free ought to be of a little use anyways. Hopefully He doesn't get any XP from it.
and as if you couldn't expect the outcome...

he didn't see your borders correct?

mauer
16-11-2006, 22:34
Well, I'm getting Bronze working in 11. The situation in the last picture is pretty close to what I'm looking at now as it's only been like 2 turns since. Wonder if I should have gone for chariots, what do you guys think? And no, he didn't see my borders. Although he knows I have a one move unit, so he knows I can't be far.

mauer
29-11-2006, 06:01
I see his borders now. I'm guessing that he's got about 3-4 warriors since his soldier count is 6000 and mine is 5000, and we've both got pop 2 cities.

I'll also have BW in 7. Wonder if I should move that other Quechua down in the queue and start a worker now that I've grown to size 2.

Yikes! His power graph jumped way up! I'm thinking about moving my scout in closer to draw his junk away, then I can move my quechua in close with little to no resistance for scouting.

He discovered Bronze Working. Apart from that its pretty even.

mauer
14-03-2007, 22:52
Well, his city is 3 pop, and mine is 2 pop. Oh well, as you can see I've got a quechua sitting on his food. Anyways, looks like he's slowly taking the lead in most categories as well. Just discovered hunting, suppose I should go for Iron Working or archery next?

What has he got defending his city?

Tubby Rower
28-03-2007, 12:48
also you want to get a few spears for defense. Simon lusts after horses and my guess is that you'll be seeing some very very soon.

mauer
28-03-2007, 15:36
He had 2 warriors in the city, but my odds were only like 11%. So I decided to sit on his food. I don't think he's happy about that, but I declared war some time ago, and told him if he wanted my unit gone he could remove it...lol

mauer
01-04-2007, 20:39
BC is getting upset about that quechua sitting on his crops. Is it poor sport to have it there? Just looking for all of your opinions. I know Simon is gonna beat me, we're at war (every since I killed his scout) so I figure I may as well just block his growth. Should I move it and make peace?

mauer
10-05-2007, 02:14
OK, need help with which city. I've chosen those two spots for the easy access between the two of them with resources....ie copper and horses. I just can't decide if I want to shoot for 25 turns for horseback riding while I build axes, or if I want to build up the horse city first. After typing this I think I just decided on axes while HBR. Anyways, this is where we're at now. I'd like to start a war as soon as I can. Suggestions or direction? FYI...I'm definately not as good at Civ as Simon is, and especially not so hot at early offensive wars.

mauer

So I discovered Simon had a new city, and it has both copper and horses. Before the borders expanded I saw the copper unworked, and only 2 warriors there. I had a few Quechua's nearby so I sent them that way, but then his borders expanded and I'm sure he saw them before I could get my archers up there. None the less, I declared war, sent them in and find a lone warrior defending it. The copper is mined, but not connected, and it won't be connected before my Q's reach the worker. Unless he's got more units that are in the fog. More archers are heading that way already.

mauer

OK, so apparently when it says the worker has 2 turns to complete the road, it really means 1. I showed up just in time to meet an axeman and 2 warriors. He covered the mine, then killed an archer and a Q. Next turn I moved a Q on the mine cause his axe was .4 and warrior was 1.6. He promoted the axe, killed the Q, and lost the warrior to my other Q. So essentially, all I've been able to do is lose 2 Q's and an archer to his loss of 2 warriors. I did manage to pillage the road leading to Simon's Spot, but next turn that Q is dead and his worker is on hand.

mauer
21-05-2007, 02:46
So he has copper hooked up and so do I, but he also has horses connected. Chariots would just be promotions for my axes though, and an attack by axes would be put down by archer/axe defenses. I have Math and am working on chopping out a settler pretty quick as well. Tech tree advice anyone? I know Simon will probably race for maces, maybe I should do the same.

mauer
21-05-2007, 23:41
Quick update, he's found my capital. I'll be expecting plenty of axes soon. I have a settler, which I now think was a mistake. Should have beefened up my military first since I've moved from offensive to defensive all too fast. His production and GNP is higher than mine which means he's putting out more units and researching faster than I am. Robboo, give me help. This is the same thing that happened when I played you. Anyone got a quick fix here?

Robboo
22-05-2007, 06:08
OK you need to last the first onslaught. Give us some pictures. Small scale tactics can help. defend hills and strike from there. block likely paths of approach. I would try for iron or HBR BUT know that you wont be able to get much workers to connect things if he is coming. Simon goes for the quick kill...he kill tubby with one city in our team game.

Simon may be one of the better players in multiplayer civ4. I woudl love to watch a game between him and Robi D. They both gave me fits in our games.

Zoom all the way out (world view) then click on the first button above the mini-map, then "New Sign". Click on the tile you'd like the sign to appear on.

Here's the screen. He just bumped my road with a chariot so now I can't build axes in the capital. Worker starting a road job next turn to reconnect. I killed the chariot with an axe that's 1.6, and I killed the axe under it with another that is 4.2. capital has an axe and an axe/archer SE of it.

I broke your golden rule Rob, and I whipped an axe last turn. Fortunately that is since he disrupted my highway. His axe in the SE corner is untouchable. Think I have a 6.7% chance against it. I have a rax, and iron popped up near the city he razed....bah. 19 turns is along time for crossbows, but I was guessing it's my only shot to survive.

mauer
23-05-2007, 01:17
Oh yeah, and he's Hindu, so there's no doubt he's planning on Oracle sling for maces.

mauer
23-05-2007, 14:06
Ok, for now he's only got 2 axes near Kingsland. One of them on the Hill SE of Kingsland, and one NE of the mine (that one is injured). Undoubtedly though, there are more on the way. I'll have me road hooked back up in 2.

I see it's been awhile. Forgot to take screen shots when I opened it last, but I'll try and remember next time. In short, things look bleak. I did just raze a city, but apparently it was a new one since I didn't know it was there untill I stumbled upon it. Was heading with a small mixed stack of units to raise some cane near his capital when I found it. Was defended by a lone axe. He's tried to rush me twice now with axes, but both times I've been in prayer to the RNG god and he went home empty handed. BUT, and that's a big but, he's killing me. Score is something like 890 to 500. His mfg is around 42 (mine a meager 14), and his GNP is 39 (mine is 18 I think). Basically, if he started cranking units I'd be done. I haven't had time to build any libraries cause I've been on the defense, and currently he has 5 axes parked on a hill right next to my new city (horses and iron near the river to the north if you're following). Building cats, cause if I could just get that stack done I could go on the offensive. Questions, comments, complaints and/or heckling are all appreciated.

It won't be long before that city falls, and all my forces are there. So this game will be over soon. I've been whipping a cat every turn just about. Sucks.

mauer

Games over in 2 more turns. Simon rolled over Republicans Armed, Cuzco, and Kingsland without even blinking. Maces and cats are too overpowering for my axes, and I can't produce whip enough to hold him off. Instead of getting my workers destroyed/captured I sent them off to chop me some hammers, and I pushed out about 4 extra units in Kingsland just by doing that.
