just finished a rax and will put a couple of turns into a library before starting on another settler which will either settle the copper and stone east or the marble north.

has gems and gold as well as a fairly sound production base, this will become one of my primary production centres with the capital acting as maybe my main commerce city.
ynnek has a size 6 capital in comparison with my size 4 however it wasnt until recently he was able to even get close to my commerce output

i have made the gamble of running to alphabet first and then trying to trade writing away with the majority of AI's i hope to keep alphabet for as long as possible so i can research lit and build the GL.
ynnek is the only one i havn't met so far but i imagine he is directly opposite me over the pond.

what is that pink smudge on your St. Pete picture? it's on the hill to the E-SE
think its to do with the new drivers i installed, nothing game related, just happens every now and then in civ4
K i made it to alphabet by quite a fair way, i was able to trade writing for every tech i didnt know except a couple of the religious ones and sailing. im not sure whether to give alpha to all the other AI to make them like me but more importantly if ynnek is trying that gambit to stop him from getting anything worthwhile out of them.
I've got my second settler out and he's going to settle near a lot of happy and some copper.
I think the smudge is blood from the barbs that spilled into the river. It's with the super gore violence gfx mod.
I like the choke points on the map.
Btw since trading gives important rep points and you get shunned if too far ahead and also the can't trade thing for techs you just learned the pre-req, does one go about trading everything he can to the best bidder without worrying much about getting a few lousy compensations for good techs, so long as you get it all?
Thats why i was so glad not everyone knew writing (no-one iirc) so it allowed me to make a lot more on my beeline, 5 turns later and ynneks points havnt jumped so i dont think he's got alpha- however the minute it does im going to make as much from alpha with the rest of the other civs.
i try and trade tech from the person furthest behind in tech to the most advanced in SP, pay close attention to the F4 screen :)
Ok seems ynnek wasnt going the alphabet way and instead went for metal casting, quite a large tech indeedy- he hasnt traded around with the AI though to get the tech he's missing- this means im about 7-8 techs ahead of him still. He also recently completed the pyramids and switched representation.
figured i should do an update.
Here's the empire- 'cerazyville' was founded this turn with the workers getting busy on quarrying that marble. Done in 3 turns, when its connected great lib should be only taking about 6-8 turns to build- less with an expected forest chop.

Planned city squares- Im planning on settling the ones that are cutting off the choke points earliest, the one to the east especially because that will stop any wandering ynnek troops from getting in.

the one just west of the rice is least important and just there to grab me some extra commerce (from the incense) so will be least important

even when not working the gold around hammertime im beating ynnek at gnp, the AI are nowhere in sight, i think in about every important one i am beating ynnek so far.
He also gave me OB (do not ask me why-maybe a mistake) and i got quite a look into his capital- fairly similar to mine with a few differences- also he's gone for quite a close build- i guess to lower maintenance early.
What's the round orange ressource, Lollipops?
thats where ive pinged it to show up potential city spots- still havnt bothered being arsed to find out what/where i can name tiles.

aiming to settle 4/5 more cities before concentrating on producing military, gonna hit him with my cossaks- probably not kill him off but cripple him enough so that i'll win space. im still out gnp'ing him and mainly just following whatever tech he goes for that i dont have.

ive got better relations with every AI just none of the two widespread religions have come to me, i have founded divine right but ill aim to spread that a little bit before switching to it.

ynnek was first to lib- he got nationalism with it and then rushed the taj with a GE, during this time i got alex to go to war with him. Ynnek made short work of alex's fairld shoddy attack.
Taking 3 fairly useless cities in the process.

Ynnek after grabbing nationalism was first to MT but i got to economics and sent the GM on a great expadition which has basically allowed me to run 100% all the way to democracy.

I'm going to send a couple more over before i let ynnek see them, hopefully i should be able to knock out a few cities as ynnek will have most of his defence alex's way.
Here are the demographics- im still #1 gnp and have been throughout the majority of the game whilst ynnek is top in mfg (not by much) and crop-fuckin loads! with democracy im gonna make the big switch to all the other civics (not sure about free speach yet though) so my mfg should also rise (universal suffrage)-ynnek is already in that as he has pyramids.
I'm dead last in power- though i have been climbing pretty steeply recently :)

Right so things have progressed a lot (no screenies maybe soon).
I declared on ynnek, razed 3 cities including one newly captured from kublai in the south, then got peace and buggered off back home. After that my gnp skyrocketed above his +100, i used this to buy a lot of infra, now im just completing the kremilin i'll probably finish the job. i got quite a tech lead on him, but he's clawed that back now and his gnp has overhauled mine. Im not too worried as the reason why he's done so is that he is in free speach whilst i have yet to make that transition (waiting for kremlin to finish).
once i switch and i still don't have a decent enough lead ill get building a few assault forces. Im going to pretty much beeline the space techs from here.
Ok we've come a way since then, i got the kremlin so after just completing Rocketry im in the process of rushing a load of buildings to help the cause, about 5 turns ago ynnek finally overcame me in gpt by about 50. No biggie i dont think i've still got at least 75 mfg on him (can't remember exactly havent seen a save in awhile what with ynneks comp problems).
Ynnek i would say is about 4/5 techs behind me, i hope he is a further way behind in infrastructure what with the wars he's been involved in. I've nearly got every national wonder built with the exception of the iron works being completed shortly in hammertime, i'll rush that then use the city to crack on with the apollo program, having such massive cities is starting to be a bitch on my health so gotta work on that as well somehow.
