Now why am I researching HBR when I could be getting much more useful techs such as pottery or writing?
Good question. The answer's simple: I've got a deal with Tubby Rower. I met him quite early in the game (his capital's about 12-15 tiles south of mine, slightly to the west), and we made a good deal. We basically agreed to form an alliance, and we agreed to scope out the competition to bring in third civ later on. We both agreed that an alliance of two is great, but dogpiling can overwhelm two quite easily (as can be seen by the fate that DaveMcW and grs suffered in the CFC pitboss game), but three are more difficult to overthrow.
Tubby is about 8 turns from alphabet now, and he's got a few seperate deals with Robboo and BCLG100 to obtain other techs. I would focus on the techs that he would not get in those deals, namely fishing, sailing, hunting, archery and HBR. As you can see I've got the first 4. The fifth will come later.

Long time since the last update...


580 AD

The alliances have fallen into place in this game:
I am allied with Tubby Rower, DaveShack and IglooDude.
The second alliance consists of Barbu, BCLG and Robboo.
The third alliance has Whomp, Socralynnek, and akots.
Regentman and Matrix are alone, although Matrix has received a lot of help from BCLG (units).

All settling has been done. It is not time to improve the lands and build the cities. And killing Matrix is a priority. Our alliance has been at war with him twice, but so far he has been able to fend us off (with help from BCLG) and a surprise attack from Robboo on Tubby Rower diverted a lot of my and Tubby's units away from the front with Matrix. But we'll try again.

I don't have a stack. I have forces on the move towards the frontline and forces inside the two cities near the front, but I'll take a nice screenshot of my F5 screen next turn...

Current status: Whomp has taken three of my cities and he is now threatening a fourth. I can not compete with his (and grahamiams) production capacity, and I don't have all my resources anymore, so I can't build good units...

It was nice that I was able to hold the two of them off for about 50 turns, but when socralynnek started threatening my southern front I had to split my forces, which game whomp and grahamiam the chance they needed to break my defensive line...

Still alive. 2 cities remaining. The big backstab :D (Robboo, BCLG100, Barbu and Regentman turned on Whomp, grahamiam and Ynnek) has extended my stay in this game... ;)

[lol] now that I officially can't play for anyone... I find the current world situation hilarious. I wish that I could log in and view, but I dare not as it could be seen as dastardly.
