This is my spoiler vs Romeothemonk and my 1st Civ4 pbem match :)
Romeo has chosen the Aztecs (Spiritual, Aggressive; Myst, Hunting; Jag)
I have chosen the Inca (Financial, Agressive; Myst, Agriculture; Quecha)
Map Specifications are as follows:
small, pangea, medium seas, tropical, Monarch, 3AI
Speed = Normal

My starting position:

For some reason, an area to the E is revealed. It is not nearly as nice as my spot, so I don't think it's Romeo (and I wouldn't think Akots would put us so close), but it may be another AI, so I will keep an eye on it. Hopefully, it is not an unnecessary distraction.
For the start, it looks like I have corn, pigs and fish in the cross range. Cows and ivory very closs also. That’s a lot of food!
Corn plain with farm (AGR) = 4f + 1 shield
Pig grass with pasture (AH) = 6f
Fish with net (fishing) = 4f + 2 com, 6f with lighthouse
Move Quecha SE, nothing new to see
Settle in place -> Quecha
I decide to start with research fish (6T) so I can build a workboat and work a 2 gold tile early. Once I know which religion (buddist or Taoist) that Romeo went for, I can switch out research to that while working the fish. I should know in 10 or 12turns. Later, I will probably go for Pottery (via wheel), building a worker after 2 or 3 Quecha’s which will really just keep the barbs away.
Here's how things look after I settled in place:

Sorry, have no idea why it is revealed. I remember clearing the visible tiles at least once and it was not there when I playtested. [confused]

ok, long time no update. I'll try to behave better. Basically, I'm near or dead last in everything but tech. Hopefully, it's tech-uber-alles, but I don't know. I really goofed the early game due to lack of real understanding of this game, but with more playing, I hope I can make it up.
Also, while writing this, I realize I haven't taken a screenie in ages, so I'll try to get some posted so all can have a good laugh :)

ok, some screens that sum up the situation. I'm currently building up a bit to throw some units at Japan and gain those resources that are needed.

Well, I've done a complete 180 on this one, and am now sprinting past Romeo towards cav's [charge] I'll try to update with pics later, but it's now 1040AD and I've conquered the Japanese, who had Pyramids and GLib. I've also built Colossus :)
Tech uber alles!

With the capture of the Pyramids, I've revolted to Representation and plan on teching to Mil Tradition. Build up an uber stack of Cav's, and pound Romeo. I have decent relations with both AI's, while Russia hates Romeo but Mansa is ok with him.
