Ah..lost on penalties. :(

Oh well, kinda cool to see a shoot-out for the first time and I think its fair to say that the better team won in the end.

Yep. Shame you didn't go through though.

I won 5-1 and got a good draw in the next round, which is nice as I have a really tough league schedule. :)

Won in penalty shootout.
Sadly my new winger (outstanding wing) was redcarded.
Looks like I could even win in the next round as my opponent seems to field a rather weak team in the cup.

I won 1-4 :) with PIC again.

Best moment of the game, my goal keeper Set Pieces man getting 2 chances and scoring the penalty.

Away from home AGAIN next week...

That is the 3rd Penalty Shootout for CDZ'ers in the cup this year. So far we are 1 win - 2 losses :(

Fortunately, not all CDZ teams needed a penalty shoot-out this round:

quote:
20000 spectators arrived at De Grote Bottel, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Bottel tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: van der Linden - Vandak, Blancke, van Putten - Willems, van 't Klooster, Vester, den Ouden, de Rudder - Corso, Kuller.

Snaken started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Miłek - Balyon, Suárez, Rouwenhorst - Halling, Lavie, Hansson, Espinola - Snoj, Sánchez, Hoseth.

Bottel seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. A mistake by the home side's central defence in the 11th minute allowed Mohamed Hoseth to score the 0 - 1 goal for Snaken. Mohamed Hoseth increased the visitor's lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 0 - 2. The referee showed Bottel's David Kuller the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. In the 34th minute, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 3 as Mauro Sánchez finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. Jose Maria Espinola made one of his many fine passes from the wing into the middle in the 35th minute. Klemen Snoj went to the air and hit the ball firmly with his forehead for Snaken. 0 - 4. The game had been on for 37 minutes when Klemen Snoj broke through on the right, upping the score for Snaken to 0 - 5, much to the home crowd's dismay. The referee showed Snaken's Mohamed Hoseth the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Vilhelm Hansson caused mayhem in his own defensive line with some mad dribbles within his own penalty zone, but Bottel's Pip de Rudder's shot went just outside. Some fine maneuvering on the left led to a Snaken goal in the 42nd minute, making it 0 - 6. Ruben Rouwenhorst was noted down as the scorer. After this, Snaken lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. The teams went for a halftime break at 0 - 6. Snaken held the ball, with a clear 74 percent possession rate.

After 55 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Jose Maria Espinola who increased Snaken's lead to 0 - 7. The referee showed Bottel's Barry van Putten the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Some fine maneuvering on the left led to a Snaken goal in the 70th minute, making it 0 - 8. Mauro Sánchez was noted down as the scorer. After 76 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Klemen Snoj who increased Snaken's lead to 0 - 9. By then Klemen Snoj was a three time scorer - a hat trick! The referee showed Bottel's Cataldo Corso the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 84 minutes into the game, Snaken were awarded a penalty and Agapito Suárez was able to increase the visitor's lead to 0 - 10 rolling the ball in by the right post. Snaken will have to do without Mohamed Hoseth for a time, due to a bad foot injury at the 86 minute mark. He was substituted by Sebastian Tissen. In a rapid move, Mauro Sánchez of Snaken lost his man, passed the ball to the unmarked Sebastian Tissen who easily hit it home for the 0-11 goal. The visitors' Mauro Sánchez took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and central backs in the 87th minute. 0 - 12 for Snaken. By then Mauro Sánchez was a three time scorer - a hat trick! The forty-five minutes were dominated by Snaken, with an impressive 83 percent possession of the ball.

Bottel's best player was Fergus Willems. Rune Vester on the other hand, had a terrible day. Snaken's best player was Stanisław Miłek. However, Sebastian Tissen made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 12.

[yeah]

Sadly, striker trainee Hoseth was out for 4 weeks and I failed to Pic since I did not know whether he would field his A-team for the Cup.. Then again, for a (probably once in a lifetime) 0-12 victory, that is a small price to pay, I feel.

Wow, nice game Kemal!

I won my game 4-1. It seems a MotS was entirely unnecessary. The best part though was that before the game, I realized that due to losing my internal coach candidate who had head specialty, I had no head specialists in the line up, so I switched in a slightly weaker defender with head specialty. That guy then scored the go ahead goal, and we never looked back.

Won 1-0, missed 3 chances. Easier than expected due to the lack of opponent chances but maintaining a 1-0 score from the 18th minute untill the 90th one is a nailbaiting experience.

Best striker/trianee injured for 3 weeks. I thank the Hattrick gods for reminding me why I keep on 9 docs on a permanent basis....

Won 0-2, captain got injured again. Just 1 week, thankfully. Next round is going to be tough, could've been better.

I too keep 10 docs always. I haven't had a week where someone wasn't injured. At the moment it's my best defender and my best forward. Probably has something to do with buying over 30 year old players rather than luck though ;)

And Kemal? Awesome dude, I have never seen a match go beyond 10-0 and dont think I've EVER scored more than 8.

Me and my opponent decided not to play football but to have a dancingcontest, Clearly he had the better dancers:

quote:24134 punters turned up at New Amsterdam Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came. Amsterdam started off with a 5-3-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Martinus - Haversjö, Muńiz, Wechgelaar, Terstall, Christensen - Heiberg, Carmona, Sosipatrovs - Corredor, Gout.

Aristocats had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation. The following players had been chosen: Pinto - Göttke, Vink, Metternich, Jacot, Angelle - Panvert, Kurnicki, Salcedo, Dalhuizen - Runyan.

Amsterdam seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. After 13 minutes Amsterdam's Fernando Muńiz contracted a slight foot injury, but could finish the game. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Amsterdam's Remmelt Wechgelaar got himself booked. After 16 minutes Amsterdam's Eppo Terstall contracted a slight foot injury, but could finish the game. Halftime score was 0 - 0. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Aristocats, with an impressive 67 percent possession of the ball.

63 minutes into the game, Carlos Carmona had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came Jon Fulford. The referee showed Aristocats's Johnny Angelle the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Aristocats held the ball, with a clear 60 percent possession rate.

As neither team had managed to win, extra time was called. After 99 minutes Amsterdam's Olafs Sosipatrovs contracted a slight foot injury, but could finish the game. There was still no winner after 30 minutes of extra time so the teams had to select a lineup for a penalty contest to settle the result.

As for the penalties!::D
quote:
Amsterdam's Gerthard Heiberg coolly put the ball past Armando Pinto. 1 - 0. Aristocats's Mirek Kurnicki coolly put the ball past Rowan Martinus. 1 - 1. Amsterdam's Olafs Sosipatrovs was seemingly taken by the gravity of the moment, producing a badly laid penalty, blocked by Armando Pinto. Score still 1 - 1. Aristocats's Adriaan Dalhuizen had nerves of steel at the penalty, changing the score to 1 - 2. Amsterdam's Luis Alberto Corredor hesitated a long time before shooting a penalty going just wide of the left post. Still 1 - 2. Aristocats's Timmy Vink coolly put the ball past Rowan Martinus. 1 - 3. Amsterdam's Fernando Muńiz was seemingly taken by the gravity of the moment, producing a badly laid penalty, blocked by Armando Pinto. Score still 1 - 3. Aristocats's Armando Pinto coolly put the ball past Rowan Martinus. 1 - 4. Amsterdam's Jon Fulford penalty shot was very well placed but Armando Pinto went the right way, blocking it spectacularly. The score was still 1 - 4. Aristocats's Johnny Angelle looked insecure all the way from laying the ball down to clipping the ball miles wide of the crossbar. No goal.

Amsterdam's best player was Fernando Muńiz.Thymen Gout on the other hand, had a terrible day. Aristocats's best player was Johnny Angelle. Bert Göttke on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 4.

I've lost a second very weird match in a row (including league game on Sunday), being stronger than the opponent in every category. There were no special events and score was 4-2. I hope to get compensation in undeserved league wins later on but it looks very grim at the moment. Even sponsors might start giving up.
