Looking very good, Mansa Musa rocks and you've got tons of forests nearby to chop plus a riverstart/flood plains.

Btw, isn't putting the show detailed production/growth info more easy when managing the empire, showing the amount of turns to grow/produce stuff instead of just those wretched blue and orange bars? No idea why Firaxis chose not to make that the standard, but perhaps some people don't like the numbers all around their cities (like Darkness, perhaps?). :)

It probably is, but I just keep forgetting to switch them on... [crazyeye]

I never encountered this myself... But maybe it's because I was keen on toying with the options before starting my first game... ;)

Anyway, your starting place is good and bad : there are some juicy food resources around, but they can't be all in one city, so this is asking for 2-3 cities asap, don't you think ? But the tile you chose for your capital is good, I think. :)

What is your general plan ? What techs do you get and what traits do you have ? I'm asking because, you know, the game is still new to me...

Mansa Musa is spiritual and financial. (start with the Wheel and Mining)

No mayor strategy decisions yet. First I want to explore a bit. I'd also like a worker pretty early, so I can start chopping some wood into settlers to get a couple of resources in...

I'd like to get a city asap on the place where the warrior is in the picture and one near the cow, though I'm not sure exactly where to put that one yet. That's where the scouting warrior will be going first.

:(

3200BC and both my exploring warriors (who both were on a forest/hill) are already killed by barbarian bears...

Back to the drawing board, I guess...

Bummer. Bears are nasty as they have a strength of 3. Luckily, they are slow. I usually just try to run away from them till the animals disappear and the barb units show up.

2000BC-ish

Still not doing much (read: nothing) in the exploring department...

But my second city is up:

I met Matrix a while ago.
We're now coordinating research... :)
We also have an open borders deal, so I'm exploring his lands. I'll post a picture of that later.
