Wheel game? [???] For some silly reason the save game folder is calling itself Ignition on my machine... What did you call the game anyway, Matrix?
I called it Ignition, because I it my first PBEM and I thought the first for all of us, and because I rediscovered the racing game Ignition just one day before starting this PBEM. :D

Romeo, could you please mention the word "Ignition" in the subject when sending the PBEM, so that I can tell Outlook Express to automatically place it in the Ignition folder.
To all: check your details in the menu. You can rename yourself, for example, so that I can see "Darkness" next time instead of "Mansa Musa". And you can change the setting so that perhaps you can send let the game send it through (like I can).

Is it possible to use the turn tracker for this, or should we just use regular email.
I have no problem with either method.
I prefer not to use the turn tracker, cos that's an extra step for me. I can let Civ4 send the save. That doesn't mean we can't use the turn tracker; you'll just keep missing my entry. [tongue]

Email is fine, I think. I'm playing 2 civ4 PBEMs now, and I'm only sending saves to one person. Seems pretty easy to me...

Don't think this is for PBEM. It seem to feature simult. play.
@grs: nope. It's a continuously running game, where you can log on at any time (but preferably when it's your turn ;)). And you can also continue a PBEM/Hotseat game with it.
Anyway, I just played my turn. :)
Darkness and romeothemonk, could you please edit your details and change your name in the game?
FYI, I'm not available to play tomorrow.

@Matrix, I don't know how yet. I have run c4 for all of about 6 minutes so far. I hope to rectify this tommorrow, it will all depend on how much my wife lets me play.

Anyway, it costs just a few seconds: Go to the menu, click "Your Details" and change "Montezuma" into "romeothemonk".
We're playing a an average of one-and-a-half turns a day. Woohoo! :D
I will be out of town on Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th January, so you won't get any saves from me then.

Hey guys, When i try and open the save I get a msg that says something like "This save is protected against changes in your mod folder." And then c4 exits. I have a mod in my folder but it has been there for the last 3 turns. Without a full uninstall/reinstall how do I fix this?
I already tried just moving the mod physically out of the mods folder and that didn't work.
Damn, the same problem again?! Darkness, how did you fix it last time? You reinstalled Civ4 completely and removed all folders, didn't you? http://www.straland.com/images/smilies/undecided.gif

Yep. That's exactly what I did. Manually removing all the folders after uninstalling was the key here!
BUT: I had no mod installed, while Romeo has got one on his machine...

Dang it. I will not have time to fix this until the weekend at the earliest.
The frustrating part is that I played the previous 5 turns with the mod installed and had no problems.

It's at grs. I sent him the save wednesday (together with my 1vs1 game against him and I haven't seen it back yet)...
Sent it yesterday night, shortly after you posted. It was only 24 hours in my box, so I would hardly say the game stalled.
Yes, grs. We're just lucky to be used to a quick pace (i.e. at least one turn a day). ;)

Now I know I played 2560BC on february 17th and grs told me he sent it on, so it's either at Romeo or Matrix... What's up?
I seems to be my mistake. Although I might've played it in Breda (can't remember) in which case I don't have an outgoing savegame.
...
Thinking harder, I believe I have indeed played the game in Breda, but the turn looked awfully familiar. Nevertheless, I'll play and send it on.

Seems like you fixed it already. I noticed this morning that the save has been in my inbox since late last night. I'll play it when I get home from work tonight...
Sorry, I was in Vienna for a couple of days. But it's played and sent now. :)

It was great! Lots and lots of old glorious buildings; some of them still in use (parliament and city counsil, for example), some commercially exploited and/or musea. Schönbrunn, where Emperor Franz Josef and Empress Elizabeth (better known as Sissi) lived, was particulary interesting. One of the rooms there was later on used by Kennedy and Cruschev for negotiations, since Austria was independent in the cold war.
The city radiates a past glory. Now it's just the capital of another 10M-country. That's what history makes fun. [cool]
I was away for a few days and will be able to play my turn tomorrow. I will be without civ access again from Friday till Monday. After that I can resume playing on normal schedule. Same applies for my 1on1 vs. Darkness.

I got the 300BC save from Matrix on june 14th. He says he played on the 15th. Maybe he forgot to send it to me?
There is a slight problem: when I try to load the savegame the game crashes. Grs already resent it, but that didn't help.
Perhaps you could replay your turn? If that doesn't help, I'll reinstall Civ4.

No, that is another game, you get the saves from Romeo here. There seems to be a general problem with his save games recently, since I read something about that problem in a spoiler.

Romeo and I had this problem as well, about two months ago or so. But since then I got about 80-100 saves from him that worked just fine. :)

That was my game with Romeo (it has actually happened 2x now). In the latest incident, we had to go back 1T and then all was well.

No turntracker, but until recently the game moved quite well. About 2 or 3 turns a week is pretty OK, I think...
But don't expect that right away, 'cause Matrix is in South Africa for two weeks.

Hey guys, I am back. My comp took a lightning bolt. So I bought a new power supply. Which didn't fit my case. So I got a 2nd power supply. Then I noticed my motherboard and processor took a dump.
I got a new processor and motherboard. I had XP issues that caused one of the best technology guys I have every met to take 6+ hours to fix.
Long story short.... Turn sent sorry for the delay.
Ouch, annoying! Don't you have a fuse to catch lightnings?
Anyway, game played. :)

I did have a surge surpressor. However it was state of the art in 1995, and just didn't handle that well. I upgraded and got the best supressor on the market in Yankton. This should alleviate future problems of this type.
I have in the future decided to buy complete systems so when something goes wrong, I just send the whole thing back and they give me a new one.

I have vanilla upgaded to the latest patch. Nothing else instaled.
Any idea on what I should do?
i can uncrack/crack it for you if you know the admin password?

hmm,
This could explain the several weeks with no save. I am very interested in seeing this game progress, but I will say nothing as I added a 3-4 week lag in there.

I play just before you and when I played the last save I sent you I hadn't patched to 1.74f yet (that was about 3 weeks ago, I guess). Maybe that is (part of) the problem?

You just need to install the patch, no uninstall needed.. The deodorant you may have put in will of course not work anymore.
According to BC, we need the admin password for him to fix the game. Who created the game?

ok but as i told barbu i wont be able to get to it for about a week.
the admin password isn't cdz.
I tried that plus every variation i could think or including capitals etc, no luck.
any other ideas?
Hm, that kinda sucks. That's what I always use for the admin password. Or at least, I thought I did. This was my first Civ4 PBEM though, so I might not have had a standard.
I PMed you another possible password.
