I thought I would add this humor topic to the Hatrick Forum. Post Good/Funny Team Names - Logo's - Player Names... basically anything you get a chuckle out of

First on the list... This is the longest damn name I have ever seen in HT. This guy looks really funny when put in a line-up as it has to squash a lot of the other players names to fit his in.

Really weird match. May be overconfidence?

Interesting. Thats the second example in the cup of a team going out because of poor attack ratings that were worse than the other team's. The other example is a team that had a solid midfield but only played their coach up front and lost 1-0.

17/01/2006 BK Harg BK barcastars 66 667 £ 560
23/12/2005 Pugwash FC BK Harg BK 5 000 £ 460

03/12/2005 BK Harg BK robinrobban 53 333 £ 470

Call me sad if you must, but I punched this into the comp-calculator and BK Harg actually made £47667 from this in total [crazyeye]

Did you consider agent fees and such in your calculations?

Darth Pugwash
09-03-2006, 12:27
No I didn't calculate the agent fees, with them included I imagine the final sum would be quite alot lower.

In case your wondering why I'm on there, I kind of accidnetally bought him. I placed a bid even though I didn't particularly want him and didn't really expect to win the bidding, but I ended up buying him anyway. Afew days later I decided to sell him again and yesterday I noticed his strange transfer history.

This is a new one on me...

I get a message the other day...

quote:I pay you 650.000 euros for this player.......Please, answer me soon. Thank you

This is one of my new trainees that I bought about 2 weeks ago.

After hunting down Rik and finding out the conversion I find that this is about $854,000 USD so I put the guy on the transfer market and the guy immediately bids on him.

Keep in mind I bought this guy less than 2 weeks ago for 485k.

Come to find out the guy who bid on him is trying to put a team together of players named Luis Colmenarejo... well who am I to knock a profit :D

30-05-2006, 14:44
If the GMs find out they will probably take away the additional transfer money.

socralynnek
30-05-2006, 14:55
The thing is: if it is clearly overpriced then the GMs will take some money away from you to adapt the transfer price.
So save a little of the money if that's the case.

But otherwise: well done ;)

Finding players with your own name is funny as well. Both my first name and surname are pretty rare (an understatement). Some years ago I put my name in a thread for new names, and apparently the hattrick world is now infested with players with my name! I haven't found the combination of both names, but that'd be as rare as winning the lottery. So far I found 1 guy with passable experience, solid leadership and popular! He even got 3 stars as defensive wingback. Unfortunately, the owner doesn't want to sell him. And I've found a guy with a TSI of 90k...

Funniest so far: a guy from surinam named Sjon Muijzer [lol]

No James McBride out there that I have found. Strangely, McBride is used in some countries, where Mcbride is used in the US. I realize the distinction probably means little to any of you, but I have always been annoyed by the lower case 'b' for some reason. It is sad that I will never have an American me.

I forgot to post this earlier and this seemed an ok place to put it...

My main keeper's form jumped from poor to inadequate in 1 week!!! Since form jump is greater the further from the background form is from the current form, he must be on the way to excellent. He should be there by the time that I sell him in 4 more weeks. I think that his TSI jumped from ~ 4800 to ~ 7600 I can get more precise numbers but I have no access to old HRF files while at work.

Has anyone had a bigger jump in form?

socralynnek
07-08-2006, 16:56
I think I once had a jump from disastrous to weak (3 levels higher)...

Don't count the money too early as his background form might drop by then and he maybe won't reach excellent...

Tubby..did that happen while training stamina? If so ...really impressive.

Tubby Rower
07-08-2006, 18:07
nah, I'm going to let my stamina drop across the board before I train it. I'm hoping to get everyone around the same stamina level and before I train stamina. That way I won't waste any training on some of the guys that have higher stamina already. I know I'll be losing a week of training with two GK's. The other reason for not training stamina is to get my lead GK up to outstanding as quick as I can. So I'm playing him this offseason and will sell him ~ week 3-4.

Cajun...(French who lived in Canda and then the English made us leave. We settled in South Louisiana). During World War 2 you guys called us "coonasse" which is supposedly derogatory. However we take it as a compliment to be called a Coonass. :)

"Laissez les bon temps roulier"

"Let the good times roll" is what I meant to say not "carrier".

Sorry to the non-french CDZ members, this joke is not good when translated. (It may also not be good in France French)

Robboo
08-08-2006, 04:37
I dont know that much French...( but I get the general meaning)

Besides our French is a bit...bastardized.( hope that translates OK.) Lots of Spanish and English influences have changed some of how we speak it. Even when I went to Quebec my grandfather was not well understood.

08-08-2006, 04:50
Ok, I think I've got it. It is sort of "S’il vous plait, dessin-moi un mouton" type of joke from Le Petit Prince. The boy is confused about avoir verb and airplane (avion) noun.

barbu1977
08-08-2006, 13:27
Nice one akots, Avion, meaning airplaine, is the past tense of the verb "avoir" (to have), but for some weird reason, some Acadians and Cajuns, use the the past tense when they talk to the present.

@Robboo, It's all in the accent. We are not used to earing Cajun (we even get subtitles on TV when old cajuns are interviewed), but the prolonged geographical isolation, dit changed the language alot from international french.

Robboo
08-08-2006, 14:10
Not to spam this wonderful thread too much more...but even some of the old Cajuns use the past tense in English when speaking in present...mental translation I guess. Interesting discussion :)

Check out the attendence at this match 84309647.

quote:A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 0 to shi komanda suka smagi. Gavno tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players took the field: Vasil#257;ns - Janmanis, Pribergs-Frinber, Ribes, Dišs - Rauzis, Straume, B#275;rzvads, Meir#257;ns - Natalenko, Lari#326;š.

Melnais tactics involved an interesting 5-4-1 combination. The following players had been chosen: Thying - Drop, Louko, Morales, Läfvenholt, Henn - Manering, Persson, Andreassen, Fyhrholt - #274;rgl#275;ns.

Gavno were relying on their ability to counter-attack. Melnais saw most attack opportunites on the wings. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when Terje Andreassen slipped through the defense to come up alone against Ardis Vasil#257;ns, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. Gavno's counterattacks created a good chance for Ingm#257;rs Lari#326;š on the right, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar. The visitors grabbed the lead after Jörgen Fyhrholt's free kick succeeded, resulting in a score of 0 - 1. Ardis Vasil#257;ns got a fingertip on Jörgen Fyhrholt's shot from the left in the 45th minute, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. Ardis Vasil#257;ns got a fingertip on Jörgen Fyhrholt's shot from the left in the 45th minute, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. 0 - 1 was the halftime score. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Melnais, with an impressive 90 percent possession of the ball.

Einar V. Persson found it hard to catch his breath today in the stifling heat. Gavno mounted an inspired counterattack in the 54th minute, but Ingm#257;rs Lari#326;š was unable to convert from short range. The sunny day didn't make things easy for Stefan Läfvenholt who didn't seem his usual powerful self on the pitch. A drive on the left side allowed Melnais's Terje Andreassen to get in close and score a goal in the 56th minute, leading to 0 - 2. The home crowd was not impressed when Boles#322;aw Drop came in from the right, shooting hard to score in the 61st minute. Melnais were now up 0 - 3. Melnais held the ball, with a clear 96 percent of possession.

Most important Gavno player was Pierre Ribes. However, J#257;nis Straume made a disastrous appearance. Gerhard Thying performed admirably for Melnais. Rauls #274;rgl#275;ns on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 3.
