Sorry, folks, but I really can't help it: my PBEM performance will not get better, but worse. :( my boss is sick and will not be able to work all semester, which means that our sole (!) PhD-ed guy will have to to ALL lectures, courses etc. Obviously, I'll help where I can.

Also, I will soon be moving, thus even less time :(

Sucks monkey balls man.

I thought german universities were well staffed. (note: not well paid staff)

Someone give this man a professorate.
And some sparetime to spend with his wife too!

well, guess how many people are left in Germany's biggest (of all the few that exist) paleontology department?

Prof. Mosbrugger (big boss) just left for the Senckenberg Gesellschaft. Replacement will not come before mid-2006.
Prof. Nebelsick is busy getting set up and replacing the big boss.
Prof. Pfretzschner is out of the game for indeterminate time.
there are two (!) lecturers who can give (together) about 20% of the needed lectures.
there are a bunch of post-docs and doctoral students who just left with the big boss.
there are a bunch of doctoral students with Nebelsick who are NOT employed.
there is one postdoc who runs a big dig in China - that is a fulltime job, plus he will replace my boss for one lecture.
there is me.

And that's it! We are significantly understaffed for lectures and lab courses, especially since we do all the copying and other stuff secretaries should do ourselves - our 2 halftime secretaries are busy with all the accounting!

Good luck mate. So does this mean that creationists will now breathe a sigh of relief for a while? ;)
