Congrats to Beam for the world record set by them <s>snail speed</s> really fast speed skaters from Holland [jump]

Sven Kramer, the new record holder on 5000 meters, is only 19! [crazyeye]

But I agree, US skaters really are becoming quite fast.

I;m wondering what's possible for Kramer, he's only 19 and his last 2 laps were amazing.

Good to see Davis and Hedrick have some competition at last.

Hopefully Grodum regains form a bit, I was disappointed by his 5k he can do much better. Also Grodum has nice carreer perspective once he stops skating: he's the ideal pope, he already has the papal wave down. I can just see him standing in his pope mobile waving to the masses [:p]

Ok, I also saw 2 American worldrecords and 1 amazing Canadian world records.
1.51.79 for the women's 1500. !!!
I remember when Ritsma set the WR for men on 1.51.60. Not that long ago.

I don't know, but wasn't that in the previous millennium? Sounds like quite long ago to me... ;)

women's 1500m and men's 1000m world records are both amazing times. will be a while before they get broken. The olympic track in Torino is a more lowland outdoor track so no way they're even gonna get close there.
