View Full Version : It's a girl!
Last sunday at 4:31am our little baby girl was born.
Mum didnt feel very well on friday and in we ended up in hospital for some test which took all day. We got send home, a few hours later mum's water broke and labour started. Went to hospital again on saturday morning and after 25.5 hours of labour Floor was born. We had to stay in hospital for an extra day for observations and monday afternoon we arrived home. Mum and daughter are doing fine apart from being a bit exhausted. Dad is happy as a clam and an expert in changing diapers already :D
Pics will follow.

Congrats PP!! Is that your first?
25.5 hours of labor??? That's exhausting.... Sherry only had 15 with Ana and that seemed like forever.
In that case I'm an expert in nappies as well :)

It was pretty exhausting, especially for the mother ;). Luckily Monique got an epidural after 14 hours which made things much more bearable. It's quite uncommon over here to get an anestetic (is that how it's spelled :)) during childbirth (I'm told it's quite common/standard practice in the States and several other European countries. Very glad they did that, relieved Monique from the pain for a while so she could catch her breath a bit and recuperate. Because it all took over 24 hours after the water broke we had to stay for observations. Apparently the danger of infection rises quite a bit after 23 hours. Luckily Floor was alright though.

Mmmh, does this mean "flower" or just plain "floor" ? [hmm] I'd prefer the former, no doubt. :)

You are correct about the infection setting in after the water breaks. I'm glad to hear that they're both ok. It's a bit scary when things don't happen the way that you expect them too, but who said it was supposed to be easy.
Epidurals are used a lot over here in the States but I think that they are starting to try "natural" childbirth again more and more. Personally I'd get an epidural if a watermelon sized baby was coming out one of my orifaces.
Anyhoo... Congrats again on the healthy baby girl.

I was thinking, regarding Civ level... Maybe Firaxis should consider giving us an "Infant" level for babies (idea coming from the Regent level in Civ3). Basically, you would push anything on the keyboard and Miffy the Iffy would appear on the screen and start to destroy the enemies after doing a little dance. [lol] OK, enough of the spam attitude for today...

height : 51 cm
weigth : 3550 grams
Civ level : I'd say chieftain will be hard enough atm, she can only hit keys randomly :)
