NOT for Yakodi, Greybeard or Bathsheba666, if you visit CDZ.

I received a PM looking for a replacement for this game, and decided to take it up. The settings are Monarch, 3 settlers at the start, archipelago, seafaring civs.

Yes those are irrigated grasslands. We're last in techs and last in score, even behind the AIs. Our military is weak compared to the others. I have no granary and, in fact, no city improvements whatsoever. We have 4 workers for our 6 cities. I need a plan.

Yakodi gifted me HBR when he noticed the score, so that was much appreciated. Currently the empire will finish Mapmaking and proceed to math for some cats. I have a feeling I will have to fight my way out of this hole.

So the plan is to attack. I havent seen any explorers from Bath, likely he doesnt know what is coming or from where. I know he has swords, there is one running about but way in the north of his empire. I had planned to wait but if I can destroy Bergen (I think its a core city) and take some workers Im happy with that. Im sure I can hold off any attack from him. I dont really care about an early golden age since Im pretty behind.

Hmm some turns have passed, and its 690 BC now. I had to pass on Bergen due to a spear being built there that turn, however my wandering conscript found an undefended capital that was duly destroyed with the result of WAR on the Vikings. GA initiated, Pyramids in 8 turns now. Unfortunately the Viking capital jumped to a central location with a wheat and several hills, just about a perfect city spot.

The Vikes are stronger than I had anticipated and have positioned 10 cats, 4 spears, 11 vet swords, 1 reg sword, and one conscript sword outside my northernmost hill town. I have 9 NM, 5 vet, a warrior, and 6 cats in there. If half of his cats hit, I have a 99.2% chance of winning in my hilltop town across a river. I was a turn late getting a worker joined to rush walls, but they'll be up if my city survives next turn. If he crosses the river, I'll have walls up, and I have a 99.8% chance of winning. If ALL of his cats hit, I still have a 91.9% chance of winning. Stranger things have happened though so we're waiting to see the results; Ive been getting horrible RNG in this war anyway.

Ill enter the MA next turn as the first of everyone since Ive met all of the AI and can trade currency for construction and CoL. I also have an informal currency+ any other needed AA tech for Republic deal with Yakodi when he gets it. This is a big turn, to say the least.

The Vikings are also at war with the Arabs to the North of them, and Bath says that he just sent some swords up there to meet them. Christ he has a lot of units. If I decimate this stack though I think I can put a real hurting on him.
