Matrix is going to marry on the 23rd of september and has invited some of us to the wedding!

Of course we are preparing a nice surpise for him and Rik and me spend last night creating Southpark figures representing Matrix and Marianne. We plan to print them on T-shirts as a wedding gift:

"I beat Emperor - Marianne is next!"

"All your base are belong to us" In Norwegian, P447 please help!

I'm looking for a shop capable of prints on both sides of a shirt, thinking of a compilation of CDZ member messages, i.e. your avatar, a hand-written message or something else.

If you want to give best wishes to the couple please post something about the size of an avatar here! :)

I'm looking forward to it!

BTW:

"I beat Emperor - Marianne is next!"

[lol]

So now we have to do a Marianne SG? ;)

Have you asked Paal in PM what "All your base are belong to us" In Norwegian is ?

Beam
12-09-2005, 22:04
And a Paal SG, a Killer SG.

Maybe my expectations for t-shirt prints were to high. One site looked promising but site performance is shit. This is what Appie can do for example:

Not going to spend a cent on that. Who knows a shop were foto plus text can be printed on the front and if possible an image on the back? TIA!

all your base are belong to us, the direct norwegian translation:

alle dine baser er tilhører oss

and the derivation of words with explanation:
all=alle
your=dine
base=base --> singular; a base= en base, plural; bases= baser
are=er (we do not differentiate as much between the genders when it comes to verbs)
belong=tilhøre ---> present tense=belongs=tilhører
to=til ---> special case; belong(s) to=tilhører
us=oss

Sorry for missing this.
Great idea.

SHouldnt it be : alle dine base er tilhører oss

The original english (or should I say the original Japanese english :)) uses the singular noun with the plural verb as well.

So how about it? Do you guys have already made plans to meet in advance, or to travel together?

Rik Meleet
20-09-2005, 10:36
Good point, Shabba.
We still have to put some dots on the "I".

Beam: Are the T-shirts going ok ?
Who will travel from where and how ?

Shabbaman
20-09-2005, 14:25
The shirts are "our" gift?

I'll go with the GF and the classic VW Golf. Stapel could get a ride, but I'm not returning home friday/saturday but go visit family instead. I doubt mr. Stapel wants to take the public transportation on the way back ;)
What are your plans anyway? Leave Grunn asap? Perhaps we could grab dinner together afterwards, or something.

P.S. Why are we having this discussion in english anyway...

Rik Meleet
20-09-2005, 17:08
Dinner sounds good.

I think I'll be staying in the Ommen-Area that weekend. We're having this discussion in English out of politeness to the non-dutchies.

Beam

I'll drive from Utrecht, dinner sounds good to me and I'll return to Breda (over Utrecht) friday night.

Work is very busy atm (still at work and have to work tonight as well) and tomorrow is an all-meeting day. Good for my business, I won't be able to spend any time on the present however. :(. Would appreciate if somebody else can do this.

Rik Meleet
20-09-2005, 19:20
I'll try to get the shirts then. I've cotacted the company half an hour ago. I just hope we aren't too late now.

Pastorius
21-09-2005, 08:18
This non-dutchie thinks this is a good idea, and is somewhat or more or less glad to see that discussion remains in a language he knows.

He is also talking about himself in 3rd person. Wonder why he does that. Weird stuff he thinks

(oh, that's 3rd person spam for ya ;) )

I've contacted several T-shirt printer and none could do it on such a short notice. Except some guy in Nijmegen "Klaar terwijl u wacht". I'll go there with the pictures Thursday evening. If the quality is just shitty; I wont't do it.

Shabbaman
21-09-2005, 11:59
It's possible to DIY with a printer and then iron it on a shirt, but only as long as you're not using white as a color (or use white shirts).

Did it for a batchelor party and it did a fine job. Just folow the instructions very closely.

We should be getting him civ4. With a big can of deodorant.

Any ideas on the dress code?

Guys.

At what time are you planning to go to the wedding ?
- 13:45 Gemeentehuis
- 15:00 kerk
- 16:30 Receptie

Shabbaman
22-09-2005, 09:59
I guess we're expected there at 13:45. Are all of you coming by car? We could arrange to carpool there, would be easier regarding parking and such.

Beam
22-09-2005, 11:30
Stapel will drive with me from Utrecht at about 14:30 so we expect to be in time for the reception. [beer]

Shabbaman
22-09-2005, 12:00
Okay then. What's your plan RM?

Rik Meleet
22-09-2005, 12:27
Not completely sure yet.
I'm at this moment contemplating going all day, but I could also go the Reception-part only. I haven't made up my mind yet.

I'll use my own car. Is parking near the St Jozefkerk very difficult or just difficult ?

Shabbaman
22-09-2005, 13:20
I'm not completely sure where the st. jozef is, but if it is where I think it is then there's a parking garage next to it.
Perhaps it's nice to go to the church wedding (the municipal one is probably boring, and I bet in a small room as well), but I won't go all by myself I think.

Rik Meleet
22-09-2005, 13:40
Shabba: let's go to the church together.

I got the shirts. They haven't turned out as nice as I'd hoped but they are certainly ok. It was either that or no shirts at all.

Shabba; if you want to go have a date with me [mischief] you got to let me know tonight or early tomorrow.

Matrix

Rik gave me approval to read this thread. Fun to read how you arranged it all. ;) Where did you dine?

IIRC only Rik Meleet was at the municipal hall, Rik and Shabbaman were at the church and Beam and Stapel joined at Villa Sasso? I was in any case great to see you there. I also saw Stapel talking to an aunt of Marianne. Did you explain what your relationship is with us? :D

The T-shirt is perfect! I know a copyshop in Groningen where you could've done it within 5 minutes, by the way. [tongue] But it's great fun; I had it on today during a debate training.
I've made a picture of myself while wearing the T-shirt (camera with self-timer). Marianne's shirt will come later.

One of those rare Dutch persons in his twenties who actually believes there is a God. http://www.straland.com/images/smilies/snicker.gif

Marianne is pagan, though she prefers to call herself a humanist or agnost.

Rik Meleet

You should update your haircolor to match your T-shirt.
