According to turntracker. Gram and Mistfit has already played. Whomp was having trouble finding the save last night. When I left him he still hadn't received it. Are we supposed to post here as well as submit to the turntracker?
I sent it along last night at about 8:00 EST. I didn't see anyone else posting it here so I figured it was ok
Tubby Rower
15-09-2005, 13:12
I guess Whomp found it because it says that he played @ 15-09-2005 03:24:49. What time zone is the Matrix's server?
I got it now and will take a break and play in a bit. Mine was delivered to Junk mail. that's why I didn't see it. Now Matrix is no longer junk ;)

Ok I screwed up on the turn tracker and accidentally submitted it as if I were Rik. [slap] I re-submitted it as myself and now Rik should have the appropriate save
It was in my bulk section of my email that's why I couldn't find it. Now I know where Mistfit sends stuff.[mistfit]

grahamiam
18-09-2005, 06:34
[lol] wait, why the hell are the barbs active on turn 3? We should have a few turns without them being active, or did he pop a hut and get barbs?
Tubby Rower
18-09-2005, 14:03
I presume he popped them from a GH. I saw one (GH) but wasn't as brave ;)
grahamiam
18-09-2005, 15:44
why don't we let him replay that turn? he can avoid poping that hut this time ;) I'd rather he lose to one of us than an unlucky hut pop
I'll go with what ever you all decide but I think he should replay the turn. I think for a penalty he can never pop that hut with any unit :D

just don't pop a hut with a non-expansionist king unit ;)
So barbu needs to play his turn again?
Rik Meleet
19-09-2005, 12:04
Barbu: Do you agree with replaying your turn, but not popping the hut ?
barbu1977
19-09-2005, 12:51
I'm realy bad about that. I just replayed and not pop the hut.
For my defence, I popped the hut on my first movement, and had plenty of mountains to go in. I was on a mountain, and only 1 barb had acces to me. Also by experience, Normaly barbs do not attack units on muntain, especialy when they have an empty city close by.
Anyways, I'll to take any punishment you wish to give me.

The prerequisite to understanding this letter is to have encountered some of Barbu's actions and to have realized how empty-headed they are. This in mind, I would like to bring the communion of knowledge to all of us. His off-the-cuff comments all stem from one, simple, faulty premise -- that ethical responsibility is merely a trammel of earthbound mortals and should not be required of a demigod like him. And what of it? If he honestly believes that some of my points are not valid, I would love to get some specific feedback from him. I have now said everything there is to say. So, to summarize it all, Barbu presents quasi-scientific and pseudointellectual justifications for his piteous obiter dicta in order to convince people that cannibalism, wife-swapping, and the murder of infants and the elderly are acceptable behavior.

As Barbu's partner I would like to give King Gman a piece of my mind....
There is currently a lot of controversy about King Barbu My partner's expedients, and I know that any letter on the subject will almost certainly cause someone to oppress, segregate, and punish him. Still, King Gman's manuscripts reek of so much insurrectionism that the smell makes me nauseated. As this letter will make clear, Gman makes assertions that strain credulity. That's self-evident, and even muppet boy would probably agree with me on that. Even so, on a television program last night, I heard one of this country's top scientist Paal concluded that, "I, hardheaded cynic that I am, commend to your earnest and philosophical consideration Ernie guy's plan to provide disdainful mythomaniacs with a milieu in which they can dress up his profit motive in the cloak of selfless altruism." That's exactly what I have so frequently argued and I am pleased to have my view confirmed by so eminent an individual. He constantly insists that he has been robbed of all he does not possess. But he contradicts himself when he says that superstition is no less credible than proven scientific principles. It's precisely because King G-dog's claim of fairness is demonstrably false that it has long been obvious to attentive observers that G row's theories are sheer hypothesis -- speculation with not even a scintilla of circumstantial evidence to support them. But did you know that mudslinging is his forte? He doesn't want you to know that because by excluding any possibility of comparison, he can easily pass off his own convictions as works of genius. Let me recap that for you, because it really is extraordinarily important: You should never forget the three most important facets of his opuscula, namely their scabrous origins, their internal contradictions, and their tendentious nature. Just wait until someone gets hurt as a result of Gdog's ballyhoos. Then, more people will agree that he hurts people wherever they may be, penthouse or poorhouse. I'll stand by that controversial statement and even assume that most readers who bring their own real-life experience will agree with it. At a bare minimum, G and Tubs's ideas reek of tribalism. I use the word "reek" because there's something severely wrong with this picture. Once we realize that, what do we do? The appropriate thing, in my judgment, is to launch an all-out ideological attack against the forces of Marxism. I say that because he has been known to "prove" statistically that space gods arriving in flying saucers will save humanity from self-destruction. As you might have suspected, his proof is flawed. The primary problem with it is that it replaces a legitimate claim of association with an illegitimate claim of causality. Consequently, rowing mupptet's "proof" demonstrates only that antipluralism has served as the justification for the butchering, torture, and enslavement of more people than any other "ism". That's why it's our arch enemies favorite; it makes it easy for themm to infiltrate the media with the express purpose of disseminating ruthless information. What I had wanted for this letter was to write an analysis of King Gman's endeavors. Not an exhortation or a shrill denunciation, but an analysis. I hope I have succeeded at that.
Have a nice day beeatch! [backstab]

I played the save and sent it to Rik but something was screwy with it. My capital had 2 pop and it shouldn't be there until next turn. I had to fiddle with my spreadsheet and enter in stuff manually (which isn't right). Is there someone not involved can look at the save to see if anything looks funny or if I calculated something wrong?
It just seems odd that the Persians outgrew 3 Iroquois nations.

Just a small question: what is the agreement on tools like Civ Assist 2 ?
grahamiam
09-01-2006, 20:33
Since we are in a locked war, does CA2 actually give you information on your opponents?
From what I understand of the program (I don't use it so I'm probably wrong), it gives you info on tech's (ie, what the other team has) that you cannot get from the diplomacy screen. Is this right? Is it blocked since we're at war? Never used it in a pbem, so I don't know. I do know that mapstat works ok with pbem (didn't reveal anything regarding techs) as I used it in my game against Gozpel, but that was it.
Rik Meleet
09-01-2006, 20:58
CA 2 will not give info on the techs your opponents have, nor gold, nor %-age of land etc.
You can however see the techs / gold your partner has.
And you can see the beaker-cost going down when an enemy discovers a tech.
grahamiam

so you can see it go down while researching? well, I guess this can be determined by careful calculation anyways. It also, if I understand correctly, recalculates corruption for hypothetical gov'ts and FP locations. I have no time to all that by hand but I won't use CA2 either as I can't be bothered (this is the only active pbem game of C3C that I play right now). I also don't care if anyone else uses it.
Rik Meleet
09-01-2006, 21:21
1 - Due to never being able to make peace.
2 - Due to the peace (or being able to make peace).
3 - You cannot see it going down while researching; but you see a drop when someone discovers the tech. If you research for instance Free Artistry, the others will see the cost go down on the turn it is discovered. A bit like checking F6, but it also works for techs you cannot see in the F6 screen.
Tubby Rower
10-01-2006, 01:43
Yeah I'm fine with anyone that wants to use CA2. I haven't used it at all in this PBEM. The only time that I've used it is mainly for MTDG over at cfc. It does come in handy at work with no civ but I have CA2 installed so I can make rational comments about SG's (as opposed to all of my other comments)
@Grahamiam - I will be away from Sunday 15th thru Wed 18th. During this time frame if you could send your saves to both Rik and Me I'd appreciate it.

Right now, I'd prefer GPT rather than Lux.
OK well if you well if you can give Barbu my saves and gpt then he'll be much better off. [:p]
barbu1977
05-04-2006, 20:37
I'll be gone from tomorow, noon t'ill sunday night. You guys can either send the save to whomp, or wait untill then, depending on when Rik plays the save.
Rik Meleet
05-04-2006, 21:21
I'll send the saves to Whomp if that's ok with you.
barbu1977
05-04-2006, 21:30
That's fine with me. (That's why I posted this)
Problem is my pc has crashed on me (windows won't load). I was going to post that I'd like Barbu to play my saves until I can figure out the problem. I hope to have someone look at it tomorrow.
barbu1977
10-04-2006, 04:18
I'm back, send me any kind of save.
(Unfortunaly for the risk game, I failed to get internet acces)
cool I will play in the next 4 hours
grahamiam
14-04-2006, 03:40
[lol] i'm gone till Sunday
Just send the save to me and I will play it for you grahamiam...
Tubby Rower
14-04-2006, 18:08
Whomp you sent the save from last turn. Barbu had played that turn for you already. You should have 3 less cities for the next turn ;) the date should be 1400BC IIRC
I checked my inbox and it looks like Mistfit sent the same 1425 save twice. Mr. M...can you send the 1400 save please.
Rik Meleet
28-04-2006, 22:55
Tubby: I don't think you've actually send the save ...
Tubby Rower
29-04-2006, 02:29
I forgot to send it as me... It should have been sent to barbu... I resent it as me.
Tubby Rower
29-04-2006, 15:33
Where does everyone want their battle logs sent? A PM here or at CFC is good for me.
Last turn I sent a battle log to everyone except Whomp. So if you didn't get it, then let me know. Whomp don't worry you won't be left out in the future ;)
Bring it pal. And ye shall experience the wrath and fury of our silent ninjas.
barbu1977
30-04-2006, 02:35
I'd prefer mine here, altough I didn't got any either here or at CFC or by e-mail. Maybe it was sent by regular mail, but I normaly play my turns before the mailman comes, so don't use that technique. (Its also quite expansive)
Tubby Rower
30-04-2006, 02:59
Sending an email through CDZ apparently gets sucked into the black hole of the internet. I sent both yours and Mistfits through here and it died. Anyway... everyone now knows how many of my units got impaled on their units.
Rik Meleet
02-05-2006, 21:47
The save is sort of corrupt. It appears to be due to zipping.
Tubby - can you please send me 070f again, but not zipped ?
Tubby Rower
03-05-2006, 00:36
There was no zipping. I'll send again.. if it doesn't work, then I'll have to replay as it's my only save
resent via turn-tracker
Rik Meleet
03-05-2006, 14:58
It comes in my mailbox as a zipped file and it is still corrupt. The zipping could be caused on my side, but the corruption is not. Older saves I have in my inbox all work, just this one doesn't.
I think replaying might be smart. Sorry.
Tubby Rower
03-05-2006, 15:30
I'll replay soon hopefully. I might not be able to play for a couple days though, but I'll try.
I will be gone starting 24 hours from this post 10:40 am EST for aprox 72 hours. Please forward my saves to Rik during this time... Thanks
grahamiam
04-05-2006, 16:43
Did you play the save I sent or do you want me to send it to Rik tonight?
barbu1977
04-05-2006, 16:46
@graham, According to the turntracker, you did not sent any save.
Turn tracker shows Barbu playing last... If you play before 10pm EST tonight send it to me. If after send to Rik
grahamiam
04-05-2006, 19:06
crap, i played the save last night and I thought I sent it. I can't send it tonight till around 8PM my time as I have to coach t-ball tonight.
If it is before 10 pm send it to me
I received the same turn as I played last time. I don't know where the confusion is here but I guess the save will have to go to Rik for now if you guys get it straightened out.
I'll be back next Monday
grahamiam
05-05-2006, 14:16

barbu1977
11-05-2006, 13:21
according to the turn tracker Rik as had the save for 2 days... Is this correct, or is Tubby milking the save?
grahamiam
11-05-2006, 14:35
I played the save and sent it to rik, so there's no milking (unless I fucked-up and send the wrong save again)
Rik Meleet
11-05-2006, 16:04

Rik Meleet
06-06-2006, 16:13
No problem, Tubby. Tuesday is a bad day for me to play (bridge night) and I have plans to go to the Da Vinci Code movie wednesday evening, so I am glad you are the reason for the delay and not me :D.
Thanks for letting us know, though.

I'm just confused as to who's turn it is...
and it seems like I've not played this in over a week

ok, will do. I gotta re-install civ3 before I play it, but I'll send it asap
Tubby Rower
06-07-2007, 14:59
I'll be re-formatting my computer and re-installing everything. My civ3 discs are the only one that I can't find. I might have left them at my parents house. I could be out of commission for a bit if I get a wild hair up my butt and decide to go at it without the cd in hand.
barbu1977
06-07-2007, 15:43
so we need to finish this ASAP.
Tubby Rower
06-07-2007, 15:52
I'll most likely wait until I have the CDs in hand. I was just mentioning it. Last time I played, I didn't remember what was going on. [lol] & [sad]
Tubby Rower
12-07-2007, 12:39
I really need to re-format my computer at home. It runs incredibly slow. The problem is that I can't find my c3c disc. I took my vanilla civ cd down to dad's and accidentally left it there. He's bringing that up when he comes up at the end of the month. If I can't find my c3c cd by then, I'm gonna buy another copy.
But I do need to re-format my computer this weekend as 3+ years of installing stuff and then uninstalling it leaves traces that slow the computer down eventually. So I'll be doing that this weekend. Sorry for any delays that will occur. please send my saves to grahamiam until further notice.

Too bad that the team that's holding up the game is the team with a shiny new UU.
Does that mean that Whomp and I win the game?
I have to say this is quite disappointing since this thing was just starting to heat up. I think next 50 turns would've been the wildest I've ever played. Kinda sucks.
grahamiam
28-10-2007, 22:09
tbh, I'd rather not play at all than play at a 10 turn per year pace. I can never remember wtf is going on and it becomes really annoying to try to play a turn.

[crazyeye]
I really think players have issues completing thier turns in this game, so continuing it just for "pride" doesn't do us any good if there are going to be month-long delays between participants playing the save.
Last November, we were on turn 86. Turn 94 has been in your hands since October 3rd. So, we are at an 8-turn per year pace, and I don't want to play a game like that. I'm sure I had specific goals for the next 20 turns last year, but I can't rememeber what they are and playing like this is not my idea of fun.
barbu1977
08-11-2007, 19:50
Can everyone commit to complete thier turn as fast as they can from now and up to Christmas?
If not, I guess whe should stop the game.
I am.
Tubby Rower
09-11-2007, 04:22
I can't commit to that since I'm going to be out of town a lot over the next month or so. I do try to play turns as soon as I know about them being in my inbox.
barbu1977
03-11-2008, 15:10
I was about to remove CIV3 from my PC, but I first wanted to see what would have happen with that game.
At first, I wanted every team to post their password, but since I can't remember Whomp's password, that would not have been any help. So in spite I tried "admin" as the administrator password and it worked. (Since this game will never get going again, I did not seek approbation)
I must say it's a pitty this game was stopped at that time because real hardcore action was about to get going in the next 4-5 turns. The game would have been decided when Graham would have faced a SoD of about 20 cavs. Since whomp and I had stopped research and focussed on a cavalry blitz, it would have been do or die.
From what I've been able to see, Rik and Mistfit were a bit too far behind. Graham and Tubby leading in tech would have taken the game away if they could get in Industrial age before facing an attack (impressive economy).
grahamiam
04-11-2008, 22:25
I'm pretty sure I was in the middle of a knight upgrade + cav building stage as well. Looking at the last combat log, I used 10 vCav's to retake a town from Whomp. iirc, I had some more in reserve as well.
